The last round of Bid Awards for transitions/upgrades had the following numbers slotted for newhires in the jet (additional newhires will go to Brasilia classes):

6/5 - 12 newhires (ORD)
6/26 - 15 (ORD)
7/17 - 37 (SLC)
8/07 - 42 (SLC)
8/28 - 43 (SLC)

With these new classes SLC has become more junior than ORD for FOs...

They tend to put you in the next available class. If you don't have turbine experience they may put you in a EMB class that's after a CRJ class. If they can't fill a CRJ class they'll put someone in without any turbine experience.
 
They will always try to put the turbine guys into the RJ. They do not like low time wonders in the jet.
 
Isnt the jet easier to fly than the EMB; less legs, more time in cruise...

The Brasilia is supposedly one of the most difficult airplane ground schools from what I understand. As far as avoiding the jet with the less experienced pilots, I would guess that the speed of the aircraft and how fast things happen in it, is probably the driving force??????

You're correct to an extent, it's easier to get behind @400 kts than 250kts though.
 
Looks like the Skywest hire numbers match the ASA displacement numbers.....

What a bunch of garbage.

So, if you're talking 400 vs. 250, you must be talking cruise, eh.
Where in cruise you think you could get behind the airplane?

I'm sure approaches are where one tend to get behind...and the last I checked, both airplanes are quite slower on approaches on their respective approach speeds.

The checkairmen tell me that it is the speed and descent planning that eat the low time guys. The biggest problem is trying to do a visual approach. Sim training is very structured, but when you turn a guy lose in the real world, they dont comprehend 210 to the marker in lax.

Where do people go to from SkyWest, it seems like it's a good place to go to, but if no-one leaves because it's so good, won't the upgrades dry up pretty soon?
 
Alaska:) , Fed Ex, SWA, CAL, Emirates, Cathay, Jet Blue, etc... Rarely another regional (although it has happened.)

There's over a hundred airplanes left at ASA waiting to be transferred. That's a lot of upgrades.

I also heard RJ new-hire/transition/upgrade class dates continuing through Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec.

Newhires start a week earlier than the transitions/upgrades so they can be subject to the cruel and unusual torture that is BASIC INDOC.

Anyone know the dates for the Brasilia classes? Do they start the same days as the jet?

There is a 7/10 EMB newhire class -- so they must be running the classes concurrently for indoc.

I'm heading to the open interviews in Salt Lake next week and just wondering what to expect if I get the job. I've got about 2100 tt and 200 multi, very little jet time (like barely double digits!). I'm expecting that I would be hired into the Brasilia since that seems standard for no jet time. I've heard a few different answers for the junior bases (fresno, Palm Springs, Monterrey). What could I expect as a junior base for the Brasilia (I saw the post about the jet hires going to Salt Lake) and how long until I could choose another base? I know that this is all a guess but anybody have an educated one?
Their website says that they pay for your lodging through training in a double room or you can have a single if you pay the rest. Any idea how expensive your portion would be? Is training 5 or 6 days/ week?

Any other info about what to expect during and right after training would be helpful. Sorry about all the ?s - Just want to get an idea in case I make it!

I'd guess if you wanted your own room it would be about $20/night. Training is usually 5 days a week. You'll have your company ID and be able to jumpseat after about the first week. You can switch bases as often as you like (seniority and open spots permitting). Many people have been awarded transferers before finishing IOE. Good luck at the interview.
 
How long is the training for the RJ and Bro?
 
How senior are the DEN or Col Springs CRJ bases? ie, what is the hire date of the most junior pilot in each base? How about the hire date of the most junior lineholder? Most junior buildup lineholder?
