Recently got back from spending a little time playing with the SIM and the story from guys that know way more about the company than me is that things are gearing up big time. Next month's class (actually one will run every three weeks indefinitely) will be of 70 pilots (largest class ever), and they are planning newhires, transitions, and upgrades in order to facilitate "the biggest expansion in the history of the company."
At the going rate standard attrition to mainline carriers (SWA, CAL, JBLU, UPS, FDX, etc.) is around 20 per month, and as UAL occasionally places a significant recall that moves up to 30 per month.
A couple of weeks ago in Jerry's speech to the investment community in NYC a man who has been known to be hesitant to commit to any solid statements said he expects to make announcement of new codeshares with one or two new carriers by the end of the year.
For what its worth...
