Has anyone heard the latest rumor about Skywest using all the money they have
in buying ASA. Thats the latest I heard...

oh boy, here we go.

Oh hell...

So, we are gonna start with immature comments already. No wonder why your still in a regional flying an RJ.

Are you sure you don't mean ATA instead of ASA????

What would Skywest gain with ASA but more 50 seat RJs and a few 70 seaters? Doesn't seem like a good business plan to me to have even more lift dedicated to near bankrupt Delta.

Lame title to this post - waaaay too definite...

Hey Flamed Out,

Nice "certain" title you have there.... Why is it that people use very certain titles for rumors with zero proof? Too many people on this board make that dumb mistake. If the SEC (and it is very unlikely) were watching, they could look for stock manipulation with people planting rumors to impact stock prices.

Suggestion for a new title for this post: "Will Skywest buy ASA?" or "Skywest could buy ASA?" or "Has anyone heard that Skywest might buy ASA?" Get it?

As for the rumor, yes, many of us have heard it. I believe that the head of ASA resigned from Delta but kept his position at ASA (difficult to understand given that ASA is wholly owned by Delta). Not sure if that is a precursor to an acquisition.

That would be very interesting since ASA is financing Skywest's 8 new RJs.

Why would SkyWest need ASA to finance any RJ's for them, Skywest has over $650,000,000 in cash on hand and is in better financial shape than ASA.. An interesting rumor I heard is that SkyWest is securing $1.25 Billion in a line of credit...what for, who knows???

From what I have heard things are going pretty good over at SkyWest. Why would they want to ruin that by purchasing another regional? Having to deal with seniority lists, payscales, union issues would be a big challenge. That money could be better spent elsewhere IMHO.

Maybe they're planning on spinning off on their own like ACA did.

By the way, anyone know how "Independence" is doing?

Not a rumor. Heard it from the training dept, and the guy who delivers the airplanes for ASA.

Certainly not a rumor. SKYW is not shy about the fact they are in the marketplace to purchase someone. I think they will be smart and purchase the right company. My question is why buy someone who is in contract negotiations and is ALPA? Interesting times for sure.
