DOT rankings mean JACK. Too many variables. Your numbers can be skewed one way or the other dependant upon where you operate, weather, flow control, etc.

I have flown quite a bit on all the majors, and most of the "first tier" regionals (or nationals for my fellow regional pilots with the often mentioned inferiority complex). To be quite frank, within reason I could care less whether or not the flight departs within 5 minutes of schedule. I rarely check a bag so that is not a big issue to me either.

What really counts is how I am treated by the employees. From the ticket counter to the gate house, to the jet way, and the flight attendants. If were gonna be late just keep me informed as best as you are able and let me know with some degree of honesty what is going on. If you treat me nice I am easy to please.

I can say that without ANY DOUBT, SkyWest is far and away the best regional I have traveled on. From the minute you show up till the munute you get your bag and split, everyone is pleasant, helpfull, and make travelling on their airline a pleasure.

Now that I have flown into SLC as a DCI carrier, I have noticed that this extends to their ground operations as well. All the ground folks their in SLC are helpfull, friendly, and run their station like professionals who care about the image the present to the passengers and to fellow DCI employees.

On my last couple trips through SLC the skipper and I went and visited their crew lounge. Very nice and all the crews were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We went and visited ops. We had a chance to shoot the bull with their ops folks who showed us around and we had a great time.

As any of my fellow ASA pilots could attest, if another airlines pilots dropped by ATL ops to say hello and visit they would be looked at like they were from outer space. Don't feel bad anyone, we work there and most of them treat us no better.

As for the ramp operation in ATL, I won't even go there. Suffice it to say it is a less than stellar performance on any given day. Little attention is payed to professionalism, and customer service is abhorrent. Of late things have improved somewhat, and I know the company is trying. I hope the effort continues. There is no reason why it could not be like SLC, if they wanted it to be.

All the DCI carriers could take a lesson from SkyWest. It is a top notch airline.

Just tone down they "Hooray for us, we're number one" routine. That is all. Let the job you do, and the quality of your product speak for itself. Trust me, customers notice and so do the rest of us.

Maybe some counseling will help with your hyper-sensitivity and inability to deal with circumstances beyond your control. I would hate to think of you suffering Post Traumatic Stress after such an horrific ordeal. The results could be tragic.

Perhaps you should try taking a bus next time, it may be less of an ordeal for you.

That or a rental car

I don't know, those lines at the rental counter can be pretty traumatic.

;)

Glad to see you still have a sense of humor.

:D :D :D

Hey JetProp

Of course, they did that just to piss you off. They Knew that you were going to ride ,so in SGU they conceived this plan to make you miss that connection. It's all a big plan to F&%k your day up. You, I am sure are the first traveler EVER to miss a connection. And of course since you are a big crewmember, you are much more important than any other passenger on that late flight.
I am sure that you have never pushed late for any reason....ever! Never pushed late due to weather, maintenance, crew/equipment swap or even a sick crew member. I want to come fly in your world.

Try Greyhound next time.

I don't think anyone from Skywest was trying to 'toot our own horn'. I'd hope that my fellow co-workers wouldn't brag at a time like this. A stroke of a pen at United and/or Delta could drastically change our futures. Being proud of our accomplishments is one thing, but shoving it in the face of the rest of the industry is another. By looking at MONKEY'S credentials you can see that this individual may not work for Skywest and may not even be a pilot. Good luck to all.

thast cause you fly out west where the weather is nice. Try a base on the east coast.

LAX-ONT....how could you not be on time!

LrjtCaptain

The weather is no worse in the east than west. The weather is no worse east or west. Private pilots like you don't get out that often do you? You should stick to the pattern and leave the rest up to the professionals. Next time you fly revenue, listen to channel nine and you will learn.

HUH?

You must not get around. I have great friends at SkyWest. Why dont you take a look at their route map. They do fly up and down the whole coast including PDX and SEA which they have large operations out of. Dont forget about all the mountain cities out of SLC also. By looking at your profile it seems you dont quite understand the 121 world. Before you make posts on here, please make sure you know what you are talking about. Dont just blurt things out. Hats off to SkyWest, they run a great operation, and I am very happy for them.

You are only partially right, LAX-ONT is an easy leg to be on time with. Now ONT-LAX is another story with flow control, a low marine layer, or 1 drop of rain at LAX. Sure they don't have many blizzards but knowing what priority SOCAL (or Sierra) approach gives the "props", the frequency of fog or low clouds in LAX, SFO, and PDX, and how horrible flow can be, I strongly disagree with the rest of your comments.

Congrats to SkyWest.
