SkyWest, Inc. Announces Third Quarter and YTD 2013 Results

6:45 AM ET 11/6/13 | PR Newswire

At September 30, 2013, SkyWest had $727.8 million in cash and marketable securities, compared to $709.4 million as of December 31, 2012.

"Increased operating revenues by approximately $32.9 million (net of fuel, certain engine overhaul and landing fee pass through revenues), primarily related to rate escalations under SkyWest's agreements with its major partners and increased block hour production.

Made cash payments of $22.9 million consisting of $11.5 million for the repurchase of 800,000 shares of treasury stock and $11.4 million for deposits on new aircraft
-- Increased total aircraft fleet to 756 aircraft as of September 30, 2013, compared to 739 aircraft as of September 30, 2012
Commenting on the results, Jerry C. Atkin, SkyWest's Chairman and CEO, said "We are pleased with the improved financial performance for the current quarter. However, in spite of current challenges we remain committed to further improvement in meeting our current and long-term operational and financial objectives."

In other words SKYW is making a ton of money, flying is increasing, the rates they get paid are increasing and I assume with larger aircraft rates are even higher....but we intend on forcing concessions on pilots so we can make another 5-8 million a year.

Keep in mind folks inflation is around 1 1/2 - 2% right now and sure to go up...the social security tax is going up 1.5% next year, that means we need 3.5% just to break even. I assume the union is being pressured to take concessions or the flying will go else where. Where is the unity? Where is the fight?

Cash on hand going up, revenue going up, flying going up, pilots in demand....concessions????? I can't wait to hear the excuses if ALPA caves.

Correction, SkyWest Airlines in making a ton of money, and according to the conference call, ExpressJet is losing money like a stuck pig.

Did they actually report that or ar you just speculating and rubbing our faces in it with a gleeful tone?

Look XPOO, I usually respect your level headed logical point of view, but we are doing the same job as Skywest pilots but with an ineffective, abusive, and incompetent management and with no support. Skywest pilots make more than we do.

Frankly it is NOT my problem and I'm tired of seeing inc make money and handing out raises while telling us we must take a cut to survive.

Then you come on here to further pour salt into the wound by gleefully pointing out that ONLY Skywest made money. Like its OUR fault this dysfunctional mess of a company runs itself into the ground.

Very classy

According to the CFO, who was asked specifically on the earnings call what ExpressJet's profitability was for the quarter, he said ExpressJet lost money but that it was "a marginal loss." Later, BH said that he expects ExpressJet to return to profitability in the year 2015.

Don't even read the earnings report allocations for specific income receipts per airline under SKYW Inc. Creative accounting is rampant and perfectly legal in this country of economic decline. They move more money under different categories than Bernie Madoff. That doesn't mean they aren't a successful company; it just means they are good at showing profits and losses where they want to show them. Are you skeptical of my assertions? Just look at Lehman Brothers, Global Crossing, Enron, and a host of other creative accounting frauds . Bottom line, Skywest pilots, shut the fk up and get in line. XJT is running the show now. We are not a part of your stupid student council- in-house sissy party. We don't care how much you love being dominated and subjugated. We don't play like that. Call it East Coast, Call it West Coast. Call that TA dead on arrival. The combined XJT pilot group is the majority economic engine behind Skywest Incorporated. If you want to live in the land of make believe and think that your little 30% pilot group drives the prosperity, then you are woefully mistaken. Keep dreaming your Joseph Smith dreams and wearing your special under garments, and we'll keep demanding a working man's wage appropriate for the work.
