You guys are delusional. There was a few of us here that predicted this.

SKYWEST has never bought companies, just ASSETS.

ASA will be gone within the next 2 yrs, unless SKYWEST votes ALPA in. Which they won't, because most unfortunately are Koolaid drinkers. At least all the ones that I know, especially with these upgrades.

And I bet your all just giddy with glee that you'll be upgrading into all of ASA's jets! Woo Hoo!!!! Oh joy, I get a 1 year upgrade and a new base.....nevermind 1800 other pilots are out of a job!!! Oh well, too bad!

Uh ok, so Skywest should become ALPA so when the seniority list merges it can go DOH??? Is that your motive?

ALPA Merger policy has never been DOH if both carriers are ALPA. Why people continue to spout this incorrect info is beyond me.

Yeah I told these ALPAites the same thing before skywest was going to buy us. They all said we were in a better position than comair by being owned by skywest. Looks like Comair got the last laugh ALPAites.

And Mr. Tomct....why does it matter to you????? Cuz you are at ASA and don't want to get bent over????

It matters to me because my husband, who already got screwed out of an upgrade and furloughed once, is an FO there sparky. I really don't want to see him get hosed again OK????

I am for the Pilot Marriage Ban. That can only lead to the weakening of our profession...more baby pilots....

LOL, now THAT was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those numbers dont relate to the 70 seater.... SkyWest wasnt flying CRJ700's for Delta in 3rd quarter of '05!

They have/were flying 70's for United Express.

Then the data shouldnt show just ASA COMAIR and SKYW. Comparing SkyWest United express numbers to ASA and Comair, is apples to oranges...

united express CRJ700's only have 66 seats. CASM's would be higher due to less seats. This in turn increases all associated costs.

MAybe an unrelated question, but a thought I had...

Is SkyWest expanding, shrinking or status quo with respect to their United feed?

Yeah, negotiations at ASA have nothing to do with it. -TIC-

Notice the timing of all this happening? A couple of weeks ago ASA management left the table to talk with upper management (read: time to put the heat on!) They know that the ASA pilots won't go for cuts, now they are giving the ASA pilots a gut check. Time for those who were ready to walk to see what your made of. It isn't an easy decision and I am glad I don't have go through it.

Good luck guys/gals!

Vote in ALPA now and two years from now we can all still be bickering about
no contract, who screwed who and where ASA pilots belong on the
combined seniority list.

Boy with all the banter from you Skywest pukes you are starting to sound like Mesa! Oh by the way, what protection do you have against merger? How bout we just make you our little bitches and staple your a$$!

Boy does that sound familiar.

I am asking because I don't know, not to prove a point.

The current agreement with Delta/ASA/Skywest? requires 80% of all Delta feeder flying to be performed by ASA. This has been pointed out numerous times by those saying that Skywest can't shrink/take ASA flying from ATL.

My question is this: Is Atkin smart enough to get around this agreement, and has this been his plan all along? No way he could hire/train 2000 pilots to fly ATL if we all walked, but what if he takes it 10-20 planes at a time? Once he has most/all of ATL flying he can advise his pilots of his need to lower pay by 20% or find another job.

Either ASA is bluffing, or we are shrinking, either way I will not vote for a contract that reduces our pay. At least I can say I didn't cave if they end up taking us out anyway!!

If ASA goes on strike then that 80% clause does not apply. Similarly, it has been posted here that if service gets disrupted in ATL, Grienstein could order SKW to settle. If he did that he would be voiding the portion of SkW's contract that requires it to have the second lowest costs in DCI. I wouldn't count on that happening. I know its obvious, but DL doesn't own ASA anymore, its not like when Comair walked.

If ASA goes on strike there will be no more ASA. That is a simple fact, you will hear ALPAites scream and yell saying "no they won't, they will come begging on their knees to reach an agreement after we BURN THIS MUTHA DOWN." After seeing what they did with our 70's and the soon to be 130 pilots on the street because of a paycut, I expect JA to do it. Just like what happened due to the high 70 payrate I will be right about the strike.

Looking at a snapshot of flightcrew costs is irrelevant. You have to look at total block-hour costs to determine which company is the most efficient and cost effective. Flightcrew costs are but a small piece of the pie. If Skywest has a total block-hour cost of $2300/hr to operate the 70-seater and ASA has a total block-hour cost of $2100/hr to operate it (just hypothetical numbers), then it obviously makes more sense to place the aircraft at ASA. It doesn't matter that ASA's flighcrew costs might be a bit higher, because the total costs to the holding company will be less in the end. Management moves these aircraft around for the short-term in order to scare guys like you, but they will always move them back to the cheaper, more efficient carrier in the end, no matter what the flightcrew costs are.
