when the airline you work for is paid by another airline per departure (on a cost plus contract) it is no better than the brat kid in the MTV Sweet 16 show boasting how rich they are off their parents dime.

For financial reporting purposes, these reimbursements are recorded as operating revenues. Excluding fuel cost reimbursements, total operating revenues for the first quarter of 2010 increased 7.6% to $577.1 million compared to $536.1 million for the same period last year. The increase was primarily the result of an increase in the number of block hours in contract flying and additional pro-rate flying."

Not so in the new restructured agreements with Delta and United. United is requiring Skywest to come up with a fuel saving program and so far Skywest has come up short for United and that's from your system wide chief pilot. Delta's fee for departure has been dead for some time now. Your over burn it dose not come out from Mainline any more, it comes from your own bottom line. Why do you think United has those people with clipboards in ORD writing down out times? You don't have it so good anymore.

I remember getting $1600 Bonus Checks every quarter. Those were nice to get. Long gone are the $300 million quarters.

Don't kid yourself $70 million in fuel for one quarter is not covered by your contracts with Mainline. A 21% increase in fuel costs and you have lost your very impressive $15 million profit. That is all you earned is $15 million dollars! I would be very concern because 1st quarter has had the lowest energy costs in the last 2 years. Go look at the gas pump and tell me fuel has not gone up.

You need to reread your press release and actually look at and compare the numbers and do the math yourself. We'll see how you do next quarter.

How about the 40-some-odd routes that SkyWest flies completely at-risk? I'm pretty sure that's all figured into these numbers. They may not reflect a great quarter, but SKYW now owns the record for consecutive quarters posting a profit. That's nothing to sneeze at in the industry these days.
