Hi all:

I have a FAA Multi Engine Land ATP. I like to add single engine class to it. I talked to my FSDO and they said I only need a ride.
Is there a flight school that will prepare me for it in a compact time frame (weekend?) ... I have not flown singles in a while but I need it fairly soon.

Thanks in advance

the rating still exists but
there is no single engine atp priveliges anymore
No single engine 121
No more then 10 seats for single engine
So how could you exercise single engine atp priveleges when after regs it is not possible any more.
hope this helps. safe your money. get a type

Single ATP

That is absolutely correct, though you will still have an oral of some kind. All you need is a simple single and an examiner. Hopefully, your local airport has an ATP examiner. That's all I used. Make sure you're instrument current.

The flight itself should be easy. It's basically a souped-up instrument checkride, completely under the hood.

No need to spend a bunch of bucks on a school, etc., for an SE ATP. It's really pretty basic. No worries, I assure you.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck with your practical.

Hi!

You should have an oral on the plane U R flying for the ATP checkride. The oral shouldn't go into anything else, as you've already done the oral.

I can think of a TON of jobs that this guy may want to do that he can't without a SE ATP. Why, you might ask?

I don't know his situation, but it might be like mine.

I have had my ATP (MEL) since 1991. I was going to fly skydivers, since it was the only job I could find after I was furloughed from a regional. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't legally fly a SE Cessna for them as I have NO SE Commercial. That's correct. I have a MEL ATP, and ONLY a PPL SEL.

I was also going to start training to be a flight instructor, and one thing I needed was either a SE add-on to my commercial or to my ATP. The ATP is easier, especially if U haven't flown in a while, because you just fly instruments-no chandelles, lazy 8s, etc.

Good luck!!!

PS-I still want to add-on a SEL to my ATP and get my instructor ratings so I can teach my kids, and possibly flight instruct on the side, depending on my job.

SE ATP Oral

My SE ATP was on Jepp charts. Nothing about the airplane, which was a Warrior. The examiner who gave me my SE ATP gave me my Citation type the day before. He had me in class all week, so he had a handle on my abilities. I believe it makes a difference if you find an examiner you like and/or who knows you and you use that examiner as much as possible. It also greases the skids sometimes for your students if you send them to that examiner. But I digress . . . . .

Really, the SE ATP is one of the easier practicals, if there is such a thing as an easy practical. Good luck with yours.

wouldn't you need an ATP (sel) if you were flying a Caravan that seated 12 plus the pilot under FAR 135 sine you are flying a plane that seats 10 or more? or a ses if it were a Caravan on floats?
granted not many of those around but still....

Can you name a couple? I mean jobs that you can't do with a SE comm. I can't think of any off the top of my head.
