Although I wouldn't expect this today, about 6-7 years ago, I flew into MSP in a GA plane for a wedding. We were staying at a hotel near the Mall of America. Some how or another there was a mix up on who was going to pick up who and the FBO staff advised us they had an extra crew car.

I just about crapped in my pants when they said that we could have it overnight and all we were driving was a piston plane.

Maybe they changed management since then, but at one time, they did us a favor. Sad to see that things have changed.

STP used to be a great place to spend the day on a charter...how are they doing over there?

Once I flew one of the company owners from Fargo to MSP one morning, he tagged along on the freight run. One the way to the freight ramp, I swung by Signature, taxiied across the taxiway/ramp boundary. I cut the right engine, the guy got out, I started the engine again and got cleared to taxi to the freight ramp, so I was barely even on their ramp space for any time, barely even crosses onto their ramp. Never used, or needed any handling.

Signature called back to Fargo to charge us $50 handling fee. I dont think they paid that.

Regarding HPN, Bruce might be one to know about that.

FWIW....I pass through at least 10 or more Signature facilities (not including the one I am based at) every month and have never encountered any of the problems mentioned here. Since my fuel purchases are well north of 100,000 gallons a year I also get a pretty good break on the cost....in fact they are now one of the lowest cost facilities we visit. And they have good crew cars.

Now, San Diego is a whole different story. I refuse to even get off the airplane there. Standard procedure is to have the f/a escort the pax in and out. Fortunately I never overnight there because as soon as the pax leave, we close the door and leave the APU running until they get back (usually about 1.5 to 2 hours). If they want to move the aircraft, I tell them we are doing an IRS realignment and can't be moved. They actually believe that. It is the only place in the world where I would like to see the airport ban all general and corporate planes. Then, that group of idiots running the FBO would be out of business.

Signature has awesome facility at KBLD....................got stuck there overnight because of weather and that had to be the most comfortable recliner I've ever fallen asleep in ...next to the one in the comfort of my own home..........Pilot lounge was awesome!
