They moved to Livermore, CA (KLVK). They are using the building and hangar that they formally operated the Korean Air training in.
Still going at least semi strong clogging up the closed pattern with their C-172 Heavys.

I was under the impression that the orange arrows are gone, and they are using panam academy because the koreans fly into my airport all the time to shoot the ILS approach and they really are not the safest people to deal with. They don't usually comply with control instructions. Kind of scary to deal with.

Sierra lost the Korean contract a year or so ago. Pan Am got it, moved them out of LVK after a little while (like earlier this year) and now Sierra took over the facility...again.
Where the Koreans went, I don't know.

As far as them being bad, it depends on the pilot. Way back when I was one of the Citabria guys doing their 5 hour unusual attitude training. Some guys were right on and flew well and had good SA. Others....well...you know.
Not nearly as bad as the guys from China.

I instructed at the Korean Air Program for a while and while there were some scarry pilots there some of them were better sticks than half the American students i flew with. The language barrier is kind of tough for them.

As far as where it went. The Korean program is now run by PanAm and was relocated to Florida last fall. I have heard that they are now closing that facitlity and moving to their Arizona campus.

Hey Vegetto, were you born into the left seat? We all gotta start somewhere.

I gave some instructing to a Korean kid doing his Multi Engine add on to his commercial and he was sharp, very sharp and a good stick. Had no problems on his ride. He came to the U.S. to do his flight training so he could work as a Christian Missionary pilot back home. He ended up getting hired by Korean Airlines. I definately think it's not accurate to portray any group as being "bad" or "good" it's all about the individual pilot.

I remember one day about 5 years back in TCY when I saw 2 of hose orange arrows parked, RUNNING, and nobody inside. The pilots were 200 yards away in the FBO. Safety first.

I flew with some outstanding Korean guys. One that comes to mind was a dude that worked on ships...like those container ships that cross the ocean. He looked it, too...I remember his teeth looking very, uh..."British". :)
But he was awesome. Another good guy was a helo pilot in the South Korean Army.

I hated wearing that stupid uniform in the back seat of Citabria with a chute on. Ugh.

Nothing beats those JAL guys from KAPC.
Every time I hear a controller have a meltdown, I gotta laugh. They should get hazard pay.
