It is entirely possible, and you guys who think it isn't are total numbnuts, it's computers 101, and if you don't think so it takes about 10 seconds to learn how to do this by looking through the help documents on your pc.

If you have a shared folder on an unsecured wireless network, and you choose to allow other people to move the files around, which is basically the sole purpose of sharing folders at home, so you can drop and drag stuff from one computer to another, then yes it is entirely possible if the workgroup, which comes standard as MSHOME was set, like on almost all computers, then some dude may have easily dropped the file on the guys laptop.

It's actually very conceivable since it's probably one of the number 1 jokes/threats used by serious gamers, and computer dorks.

Innocent until proven guilty, by competent computer forensic scientists, no some dumb@ss cops a lot like the people condemning the guy here.

Hopefully he is clean, and will be able to annihilate the people who framed him if he was framed, in court.

I am thinking this is possible because I would imagine that people who traffic in porn know better than to keep it stored in SHARED folders ... its the innocent who are unaware things like this can happen.

Thats never going to hold up. It was a shared folder on a open network.

We'll, if that's the case than hopefully the cops checked the persons pc that called the cops.

Can someone plant files on your pc if you don't use file sharing programs?

Yes I described the way you can move files around without using file sharing programs.

Also, installing Limewire on your computer is basically like wiping your own feces on the keyboard and then smiling about it. Limewire is full of all sorts of nasty things, well it allows all sorts of nasty things, its a gateway.

OK, since most of us have laptops and we stay at the same hotel, how can we make sure that we don't have any shared folders while online.

NJA bound,

I love the midget porn you have in your secret stash folder.

Great stuff!!!!

On another note, I think search and seizure laws have not been tested on this type of thing. This case could get dropped quickly. Should cops be able to search you and your property because someone believes you have kiddy porn on your computer? I think this guy is a perv but this case seems week not because of the evidance, but because of the due process we all are entitled to.

Unless you have manually(personally) right clicked on a folder, and went to Sharing and Security and set it up to be shared, you have nothing to worry about.

Unless some "uber" hacker decided to totally hose you.

Not only that.... I can delete all the files in any folders on YOUR computer if you select the share function up that way.

I strongly suspect these porn files may have been planted on his computer since it was dumped into his shareddocs folder.

I just did not know your computer could be accessed through the hotel network.

Yeah what ever dude the guys a scum bag that needs to go. I hope the company Fire's his Ass fast! Sounds like he's a NAMBLA Member too! Maybe you know him well Archie seeing how your profile says your in CE750! you based in TUS too? What's next, you gonna say this is a management conspiracy to get the pilots!

Oh, I get it now.....when God was handing out brains, you thought he said trains, and said, "no thanks, I think I'll fly." This explains your well thought out, and witty retort above.

Thankfully, in our country the 14th amendment affords a person a little thing called "due process." Perhaps you've heard of this before....you know, like back in Junior High School? Maybe you could open up an 8th grade textbook some day and review that small fact before you go shoot your mouth off, and are willing to hang someone accused of a crime before you know all the facts, or before they even step one foot in a courtroom.

Whether this guy is guilty or innocent, one thing is certain....he will get his day in court. I guess he can be thankful for the fact that someone other than "popgoesbubble" wrote the Constitution.

The way the article is written, it is totally rediculous. LEGAL music files that he thought were coming from iTunes? I really cannot figure out how a bunch of free music, or looking through folders that have never ever been available before through iTunes, and then wanting legal music files.

I dunno it makes zero sense, sounds like a bunch of computer illiterate keystone cops.

If you are on the road it is best to set your wireless up with 2 profiles instead of using the same profile you do at home. If at home you have a wireless network setup and have given permission for other computers to access your HD then anytime you are connected to a wireless connection there will be a AD HOC symbol which tells some one else they can directly communicate with your computer. No hotel has a server where you can store files but nothing more then a portal where you can connect to a wireless network.
So basically either the person who found the "files" knew what he was doing and knew what a AD HOC network was or he just clicked on a symbol to find the other computer instead of the internet saw the music files and clicked on the folder. SO basically the guy HAD this stuff on his computer or no one would have seen it.
