To add to the above post, and in response to outermarket's earlier post:
"You must admit that alot of your good people are leaving to greener pastures...pilots,dispatcher, F/A's . I know a few in each catagory...."
I have to scratch my head in bewilderment when I read this, because the only notable outflow of personnel has been in the pilot group. Yes, most of them were "good people" and some are good friends of mine, but the fact that good people have left doesn't leave us with a shortage of good people, either. The suggestion is that anyone we hire to replace the departed folk are somehow inferior... Which is totally preposterous. Like any company that doesn't have a simulator eval (which is MOST regionals), we have to make hiring decisions based upon what is learned in the interview, and without knowing exactly what the yardstick is that is used to measure the quality of the applicants, they obviously include the breadth and quality of prior experience, technical knowledge, recommendations from current pilots, and whether or not that person is someone you'd care to spend a week with in the cockpit.
Yes, it did hurt to see some of our good people leave, especially some experienced captains. What this did do, however, was open up slots for experienced FO's to be captains, and many of them are online now and doing an excellent job. We have no shortage of applicants and they are certainly not hiring everyone who comes through the door... And I am unconcerned about the quality of the newbies as I have found them to be high-quality individuals to work with and by no measure are they "not as good" as the people they were hired to replace.
