A federal air marshall fired shots on an American Airlines airplane at Miami International Airport, according to broadcast reports. One person has reportedly been injured.
American Airlines flight 942 reportedly originated in Medellin, Colombia, and was scheduled to depart for Orlando at 2:18 p.m. Broadcast reports said the Transportation Security Administration says a federal marshall fired the shot at a person who was considered a threat to the safety of the flight. Miami-Dade police and fire rescue are on the scene. More details will be available soon. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/breaking_news/13351106.htm

>>One person has reportedly been injured.<<

Very surprized this person is alive - Usually two to the core and one to the head. We'll see. Maybe there is still a pulse left... for now.

here come the experts!!!

Doubtful that it is terrorism related

I doubt that it is terrorism-related, at least of the fanatical muslim variety.

Even an idiot like the shoe bomber would recognize that route would must be one of the most heavily-scrutinized routes imagineable, due to the drug trafficking/money laundering connection.

Nah. Thats too easy. With a terrorist deuche, we were always taught two in the kneecaps and one in the back of the nutsack.

AA now saying shooting was in the jetway?

Now federal details saying someone said he had a bomb, FAMs told him to stop, he wouldn't in jetway, they fired.

Was it an accident!! What do these people thing the FAMs got a bunch of Barney Fife's up there?!?!?

These news people are something. Their level of aviation knowlege is impecable.

Now you know how us military types feel when they report on the war. No wonder we're "losing."

Well, we have Mike Boyd on Fox News he has a private pilots licence and used to work for AA and is now an Aviation Security Expert...........he will have this all cleared up for us..........just watch!

good point they can't get that right either!

Suspect killed according to Fox.

MSNBC saying he was killed. Look there is no way those FAMs don't kill the guy, that is their training.

Passenger on the telephone with MSNBC says that as soon as the plane reached the gate the dude got up and then frantically ran to the front of the plane with arms failing. His wife was screaming, "my husband, my husband" when she saw the 2 FAMs get up and go after him. My guess... drunk dude wanted off the plane.

We'll see but based on everything we hear so far it seems more than justified even if the end results prove sad and tragic.

Thank god boyd made his way to the scene! Now he is a "security" expert?! Somehow he is going to blame this guys dimentia on the high casm of 50 seat rjs...tool

Let's get to the important item.

All other passengers and the crew is safe. One of our pilots just spoke with the FO about 45 minutes ago.

AA

Now the guys wife is saying...he was bi-polar and not taking his meds.

Feds are saying...he started to run away, he refused to stop when ordered to and they finally shot him when started to reach into his carry-on bag.

Good Call, FAM's!!!

Ditto..... It appears that the FAM did exactly what he was trained and sworn to do.......

The media makes it to believe that the FAM should have asked the guy about his mental status before he shot him. I personally dont believe that it is an issue since the FAM only had a nanosecond to react and made the best judgement with the info he had available and that was that the guy reached for his bag.

Plain and simple...everything else is irrelevant and the pax and crew are safe.

This should prove to be how stupid the media and people are. If the FAMs had not been there everyone would had said- we wish we would have had marshalls there to stop him. Now that they did their job everyone will be saying was it really nessessary.

This should send a message, don't be an asz head on a plane! if you are so medically unstable that you are going to yell you have a bomb you need to be in a hospital

If the air marshalls had hesitated and the perpetrator had detonated a bomb and killed a bunch of bystanders, they'd be vilified for not protecting the public. This is the job of the news media, to make contraversy no matter what the ethics of it are, or the truth. Of course "truth" is relative according to the "new think."

Hey Man, Nice Shot!!!!

Ahh the news media... rotten vultures all!!

"they'd stick it in your face
and let you smell what they consider wrong.
that's why I say hey man, nice shot
what a good shot man."

News is now saying...TSA was on heightened alert because last week a guy from Egypt who claimed he was a student at Iowa was at LGA and his shoes failed an explosives residue check FIVE TIMES.

And, no...the guy was not detained...AND...the organization of Thousands Standing Around...doesn't know the guy's where abouts.

Sounds like it was the wrong time for Mr. Bi-polar to quit his meds.

They interviewed a passenger this morning who said she was worried because the husband and wife were acting very odd when they boarded. She said a pilot sitting in the cabin pointed to the air marshal and said don't worry he's an air marshal and he's got it all under control.

What the heck is that guy doing pointing out air marshals. so much for cover.
