Ok..got the scoop. If the squat override is on from the load maintenance panel, then yes, the gun can fire on the ground. The armament guys would have to enable that switch, and the gun would have to be actioned for it to happen. Don't think it would ever come to that, because I doubt any armament guy would allow that switch to be on with rounds in the gun, and with the gun actioned. Nevertheless, in theory it would work.

Of course, only speaking for the Apache. Other aircraft, well, your mileage may vary....
