A second class, that would be great. Now we just have to work on finding out the info on it. Like how many, seat position, etc, etc.

Splash, splash, Holding on to the diving aboard. Been in here for a LONG time.

Has anybody tried calling the HR department at UPS to inquire about his/her status? I know they specifically say not to call in the applicant pool letter. But what if you are moving? Would that be a good reason? Call and update your address?

Someone I know got a call yesterday for a possible second class on the 29th. Anyone else?

Bohnzai,

Good news. You gotta figure the more classes they have the better chance we have, right? Maybe not, but hang in there.

If you need to change your address you just go online to you app and that is the only part you can change. The rest you can not change. Also you can see if you application is still 'active'. I do it once every few weeks.

Hey Hawg, what do you think, MAYBE this time we will get call?????

Hope we all get out of the brown swamp soon. I have a good mind to call them up and tell them to shove it......HAHAHAA just kidding :) Still my dream job.

I was told I was being slated for a class that would be "either late August or early September: just waiting for the word from training." I took that to mean the class after the Aug 18th one may or may not be in August. I'll definitely pass along more if/when I hear it.

First of all,

Congrats to all getting the calls. We are looking forward to seeing all of you down here! Just hope it's not a hot day when you ride the package car! I speak from experience. :)

Next, Okaythen is correct. There is a possibility of a second class in Aug., but they are just waiting for the go-ahead. Numbers/fleets are not known at this point. Pool numbers are unfortunately still in the 70-100 range. Take this with a grain of salt. When the question was asked, a ballpark number was thrown out; can be higher or lower.

I would post more, but we got information overload this past week. Good luck to you guys! Hawg, LLB, bohnzai, and everyone else - we'll see ya' down here real soon!

Rumors:
The upcomming newhires will be assigned to the 757 and the 300, for the most part.
The projection for 300 new hires is still the current official goal.

However, I believe the hiring will continue for a while (2¢).

Don't sink yet!

Hey LLB,

Don't give up yet. Like I said, when the question was asked, the answer seemed like it was pulled out of the air - like he was caught off guard. I would say that the "100" part of the answer we were given is on the high side. Maybe someone with better contacts can get a better number, but I feel that it is actually on the lower side of that answer. Hang in there, bro! We'll get you guys out!

Probably a dumb questions for you guys, but is an internal connection the ONLY way to get in the door? I sure miss flying the 757...

Forged,

Yes, you do need an internal rec. to get an interview. Everyone interviewing has at least one. In terms of who to get one from, it seem that a management rec. is the best, next followed by a fellow pilot. I'm not sure if a package car driver rec. would work or not. I've heard that it won't. If you do a search of posts from 3-4 months ago, there is some really good info out there. We really dissected alot of stuff. Good luck!

Update and bump:

A good buddy of mine got the official word today for a 29 August class.

Nine people in the class, all going to the A-300.

Good luck everyone!

Is that 9 total or 9 current in that class?

Thanks for the words..

I got the call this morning, and it's a class of 9 total, all A300 FO. Needless to say, I'm very excited and feel really blessed for the opportunity.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

OK

Well the Airbus can't make it to 410. Way to go Dude, you made the enormous jump from 1900 to CRJ. You do not have the right to call an airplane that burns more gas to TOC than the all-up weight of the one you are currently flying, a POS.

I heard that people that don't know what they are talking about shouldn't open their yap.

Why would you say that I don't know what I'm talking about? Have you flown an A-300 to personally know that it's NOT a POS? I've talked to some UPS and FedEx A300/310 pilots and almost all of them say it's a POS.

I know someone who flew the spaceshuttle. They didn't say it was a POS.

My other bud drove an AMC Pacer. They said it WAS a POS.

BB told me you don't know what you are talking about.

I fly the A300 and its definately NOT a POS. It is quiet, fuel efficient, has tons of power, glass, GPS, and a very forgiving plane to fly. It even took a surface to air missle to the wing and still came back and landed...not many planes that can do that.

I suspect that I know more FedEx pilots than you and I have yet to meet one that has classified it as a POS.

Wow, I've talked to some pilots who fly the next airplane in your career progression....and they all say that it's a POS.

Imagine that.

If you want to bitch about the A-300, start a thread about it.

But don't drop into a thread with a bunch of UPS new-hires who are about to fly the thing and declare it a POS.

Unless you want everyone to see how jealous you really are.

Now go back to your RJ and remember that envy won't get you into that big jet....only experience will.

Yes, I'm being a d!ckhead, but no more than the jealous turd that shat all over this thread.

Enjoy your jet, new UPS guys! Here's to your first Helsinki layover!
