It's called "the net" and they are at the end of most drag strips that host cars at that speed. One thing alot of the driver's are saying is that "over runs" have not been lengthened at most tracks since they were built, but the speed of the cars have gone up substantially. That is what I gathered from the interviews.

Either way, this is sad news. Lot's of death happening this week.

Thoughts are with the family and friends.

Jim Head was interviewed and in his opinion all tracks need the shut down area lengthened and at those tracks where this is impossible the actual race needs to be 1000' long rather than 1320'.

Bingo. Jim's been outspoken about it for a while. Might be time to stop and listen!

Car safety has improved after Force's wreck in Dallas, and various assorted other chassis failures. Time to improve the track as well.

Either way it's horrible what happened to Scott. Condolences and prayers to the entire Kalitta crew
