What happened to it? Can't seem to find any articles on it's demise.

My dad went there for a quickie commercial add-on in the early 80's. I'm pretty sure he took his checkride with Bernie Carris.

Thinking about doing a commercial add-on myself.

There is an active school on top of the mountain right next to the airport. Just saw and heard a Pawnee take off outa there a couple weeks ago doing tows.

Harris Hill is one of, if not THE biggest glider operation in the US. There's also the National Soaring Museum, and Wings and Wheels, the go-to place for glider parts and accessories.

You can find more about the operation here:

If you need a place for winter training, look south, like Florida, Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona.
