Ahh, reduced rest...something that the FAA signed off on for irregular ops only, but the airlines now abuse on a scheduled basis. Waiting for the next regulation written in blood...
We do it. It has to be scheduled for at least 8:45 rest. It can be reduced from that if needed due to delays. After any reduced rest period (scheduled or non-scheduled) we are limited to 10 hours duty the next day.
Scheduled reduced rest overnights used to be pretty common, but lately not so much. You still see them, but not nearly as often. Instead the company now likes to do rest periods that are normal rest by just a few mins. Of course this burns them sometimes when we end up reduced and limited to 10 hours the next day.
