I wonder if anybody knows what Scenic's track record is for guys upgrading, acquiring 1000 turbine PIC, then moving onto the majors.

Why do they lose so many pilots to SkyWest?

...

121 VFR? I dont think it looks too good to go straight to the majors. I think they loose people to Skywest because people have discovered that they wont be able to go straigh to the majors.

You might be able to get a bottomfeeder job like Miami Air or Amerijet, but I dont consider them majors.

If it were that easy... everyone would do it!

I figured that....heard them boast losing pilots to SWA/Fedex, etc.

Seems like a good company though....

"...she started talking about how I never listened to her or somethin, I donno, I wasn't really paying attention... "

Is that from Dumb and Dumber???

All the time you'll spend cleaning up puke in the back might give you a leg up at Jet Blue.

I know some people that have flown there. They never stuck around to upgrade so they are now regional FO's. One former Scenic guy I met in training at my airline said he interviewed with Skywest. I guess they were telling guys with prior 121 experience that they did not have to do the sim. They still made him do the sim because he didnt have "real 121" time. So I doubt that Scenic is a direct path to a major considering that regionals dont look at your time there as more valuable than lets say flight instructing or buying your time. If anything its a good way to built multi engine time.

Yes, when they are in the tub at the motel talking about Lorana Felcher.

Yeah it really is more like a path to Skywest. And whats funny is that of my couple buddies who went from Scenic to Skywest still got placed in the Brazilla. Not that that is a bad thing, because I would want the bro, but it just shows you that two crew vfr flying at 200 knots with the gear still down. isnt highly regarded even if it is 121. Go do 135 freight if you want to be sharp on instruments. Now I do know of a guy who went scenic to America West but his daddy was like in the top 50 seniority list.

I have been at Scenic going on two years. We have had two guys go to Allegiant and one to Alaska but those guys were all high time and knew someone. Did hear of a guy from Grand Canyon going to SWA from the twotter but he also had connections. Most of our pilots go to Skywest, Avant and Expressjet. Not a bad place to knock out your PIC turbine.

Try 150 KTS... on a good day.

We put the people who can fly airplanes in the Brasilia and people who can be taught to fly computers in the jet.

America West would hire anyone. I wouldn't brag about going straight there fromScenic.

Low Time

Scenic is popular because the people that work there enjoy their jobs and they hire at 600TT 50 ME. Although pay is pretty low it is the same as first year Skywest(that comment will start an argument but it is true) I'm not sure what "real 121" is apparently Scenic faked their way through the FAA certification. All 121 operators are IFR, Vision is 135 IFR that is probably what the guy above meant to say. Direct path to the Majors? No, but who is Skywest? Mesa? The upgrade time is very quick as well. 121 ME PIC probably looks a little better on the resume than dual given but what do I know.
