Mark N and Bill S are the only choices.
I like Mark but have heard a lot of good things about Bill. Still deciding which of the two is best.

The rest?
DA - Fuhgeddabout it. Back to the line for wearing kneepads in SGU approving concessions and promoting a sub-par pay deal.

JB - A little too willing to accomodate the wishes of management

BD - Way too much personal info in his bio. Would do a better job than current pres or vp

Can you really see MN going face to face with BH?

One of the other reps ripped on him at a meeting about his wussy remarks and back stabbing the executive board but being too afraid to say it to their faces. He had his chance to repeat what he said about them on the SAPA forum but was now trying to back peddle his way out.

BH would shred him too pieces.

The only reason people like him is because he slams the executive board on the forums, but get in his face and he just says "that's not really what I meant".

I have lost all faith in SAPA. Sorry......

Marine,

you interviewed here in Sept, right? and you've already 'lost' all faith? bash SAPA all you want, but for a guy who has worked for a whopping, what, 6 months (?), you sure seem to have lots of axes to grind already with this place that I'm sure you claimed you 'really wanted to work at' during your interview. and just a few months ago, you wrote:

Most of the new hires in my class are pretty anti-ALPA. Especially those who came from ALPA carriers (ASA, AirWIS, PCL, Mesaba, etc...).

Thanks for the burgers at the Candlewood, but I will vote NO.

let me guess, you're just trying to make it a better place now?

PS-I voted for BS

What about that POS that was SAPA pres and then soon a very "popular" systemwide chief pilot? Can't you see why faith would be lost in this system? SAPA is a mngmt tool, and always will be until solid representation is in place. Your loyalties seem to be with the company, why wouldn't a pilot who is being paid over 100hrs guarantee to represent the pilot group feel the same? SkyNation, get your head out of the sand.....

you didn't read my post. this dude just started here like 6 months ago. how can he be 'fed up' already? bash SAPA all you want, I said.

my loyalties are with the company, because I work for the company, as do all employees. it is not us against them. that is a position of another organization.

SkyNation.

On a different note, sorry for the thread hijack, did you see the Unionfacts add in the USA today yesterday? They have been putting out these FULL PAGE ads pretty regularly, must be pretty expensive, it makes one wonder why they care so much and are willing to spend so much money on us lowly workers.

Who do you think pays for that kind of influence? Labor or Management?

Yesterdays add showed a quote at the to of the page "Male, Pale, and Stale..." by the president of the SEIU I believe. Below was the photographs of about 60 Union leaders...showing the lack of diversity. Below that was a few comment on diversity and discrimination.

I cant believe how stupid that add was, I could do the same add but show pictures of CEO and Executive management WITH THE SAME QUOTE!
I dont see a whole lot of diversity the upper corporate management level.

What did you think of that ad, what do you think the purpose of it was?

Back to the thread...sorry again...the current president only has 2 votes out of about 200 who particpated in an informal poll! I guess they let him vote twice!

Why not just elect Jerry Atkin? Or Mickey Mouse for that matter? SAPA has no authority anyway. Jerry makes the rules and SKYW lives by them. Good luck in the election....i guess.

I did read your post, but six months is enough time to see and understand the Skywest/SAPA subculture, and form an opinion.

Tell that to the Bro guys/gals!!! You must be in the RJ and the "all for us" mentality. Once again, please get your head out of the sand...

Six months is plenty of time to see how things are in any corporate structure. It usually only takes one or two months.

Call it what you want. I've been at SkyWest 3 years. I'm not "bashing" SAPA, just venting my frustration that the best they could do was 1% on the 200 and nothing for the bro, while trying to pass it off as a good deal. How can generate or even retain any enthusiasm for the organization, I dont know.

sos,

I put the link in my sig just to present people with differing opinions. I'm put off by the blow hards on here that seem to claim all would be so rosy if we'd just vote in ALPA. all one has to do is shop around and see how it is elsewhere, then compare how we have it here to realize that we are not the tortured serfs people claim we are.

marine,
of course you're entitled to your opinion. I'd encourage you, like anyone, to compare and contrast what we have here. if you think it is so bad, who do you see that is relishing so much more? did you apply there? I retain enthusiasm for my job because I enjoy it, I enjoy the folks I work with, and I enjoy working for a company that has avoided the pitfalls that have besieged so many. I also 'retain' enthusiasm knowing that we are positioning ourselves to sustain our current flying while remaining competitive for future flying. this benefits me, you, and everyone here while we compete for business.

Compare and contrast - I do. Thats why I'm here. I've always thought SkyWest was the #1 place to be and still do. I think you're taking my first post a little bit farther than what I was getting at. I never said that things here are bad or I don't have enthusiasm for my job, just not much for SAPA. I had a lot of faith in them for negotiating a great pay raise, but was extremely disappointed. I'll just leave it at that.

marine,

ok. I think we agree.

Regardless of how you feel about the SAPA/ALPA debate, it is important for everyone to get involved and vote in this election.

For what its worth, SAPA is the only organization we have at this time to serve as a point of interaction between management and pilots. The people we elect to serve in that capacity make a huge difference in the path this pilot group takes.

These elections are the starting point for correcting mistakes made in the past…

Trust me holt would chew him to pieces.

I voted for Mark. I've flown with him and respect his opinion. If you're wondering who to vote for.... VOTE FOR MARK.

I have been with this company for many years. I have known Bill for all of those years. I will vote for him, not because I know him, but because I trust him to tell me the truth. I am not saying MN wont, but I KNOW Bill will. He was involved in SAPA in the old days when they actually got something done. Please give him the chance to make SAPA matter again.
Thank you.

One thing to remember

SkyNation.

Or it was one of the guys who remembered the lighting fast response during the eight hour bottle to throttle debacle. Thanks SAPA for preserving my quality of life with that one. Really!

BTW- Any IPA wrapped in a non-descript package, addressed to me, and left in the crew lounge fridge can greatly influence how I vote :)

The 8-12 hour deal was SAD. Not because it was in violation of the CPM but because of the outcry of pilots whinning about not being able to drink right up to the VERY last moment of the 8 hour rule. It wasn't SAPA that fixed it, it was the hundreds of pilot who called BH. If we could get half that response for crap that really matters, we'd be sitting pretty and not bitching so much. Saddly the only thing that gets this pilot group all fired up is alcohol.

On that note, a six pack of Sierra Nevada will sway my vote.....

The results
