Seems there is some expertise on this board. Question...where would you start looking for a King-Air if you were in the opening rounds of such an aquisition for your growing company?

Serious replys if you please.

There's a bunch of King Air's out there. A huge difference in capabilities and price. So I'd recommend first looking at your own needs, do you want a 90, 100, 200, 350? How many people are going on your trips, how long are these trips, what are the future needs, do you plan on spending $400K or $4M?

Once you've got this narrowed down you'll still have a bunch of choices on that particular model of King Air. So simply start calling the ones on the market (www.executivecontroller.com or www.aso.com) and see who's in a hurry to sell and who's got an inflated opionion of their airplane's worth. Before you know it you'll start getting a bunch of calls offering a "great deal."

Good luck

Thanks...I should have mentioned, a 200 is what we're after.

I've cyber-shopped quite a bit and have a handle on whats on the market from that source. I've avoided (so far) actually contacting dealers/brokers. Let the deluge begin I suppose.

Mr.B

also touch base with Raytheon ReSale, you will see higher prices, its like buying a used Honda from a Honda dealer, but might be good idea to touch base with them and see what haggling you can do with them.

Also, in my opinion, sometimes buying "Factory Certified" preowned airplanes offers some enhanced warranty and legal protection, and sometimes you will feel better in the end.

just my 2 cents, but many feel that way, versus buying from some fly-by-night broker, who may dump his cell fone and close up shop overnight.

Also (and I will stop), reach out the NBAA, I believe they have a list of reputable brokers, dealers or can point you in right direction.

You can buy B200's all day long, don't know what year model you are after, maybe the owner wants the "new feel", but you can get that with a 1997 model versus brand spanking new. And save $$$ also.

see ya

Please PM me. I want to be rich, and have done just enough disgusing underhanded things in my life that I have this moral relativism thing down to an art. Placed in the right circumstances I can rationalize almost anything except capital crimes, but I'm working on it.

I just wanted to clarify and also give Mr.B some insight. The reason I posted this is because my company has paid a handful of "birddogs" significant amounts of money, i.e. enough to buy a car, or pay for college, or hell, even buy a house! It makes me scatch my head when I hear my president agree to these figures especially since my salary comes out to about $8.00/hr. I made more money as firefighter, however I do love aviation and when I complete my ratings my boss will let me sit right seat in the 200, 550, 560 we have in the hangar.

And for you Otter, If you knew me and my background, which you don't! You would know that the only thing I have in my life is my word and my intergity! I've spent over 7 years working for uncle sam and local governments in a way that only a man with character could. I am not lying and I do not believe in misleading people or telling them I'm going to do something and not do it! I made those comments about character & the coke for myself as well as everyone else. I agree in the end all you got is your character & I know I have character whether you think so or not. I am just trying to give other people a chance to make money.

Mr. B, as you probably already know from prior post, I work in the aircraft buiness, however I do no sale aircraft, I work in Research & Acquisitions & also do all the bit_h work that none of the salesmen want to do. I specifically research King Airs and Citations. I will tell you that their are currently 113 stright 200s on the market(pre 1981) and I believe 73 King Air B-200s on the market (post 1981). They range in price from about half a million to 4 million+ for a new one which doesn't make any sense, my opinion is once you get around the 2 million mark, you should just buy a jet, Citation II or S/II or CJ. You can get a pretty good late stright 200 or early B-200 for 1 to 1.5 million with good-times/ nice panel/ and Raisbeck. If you would like I send you a comp sheet of all those aircraft on the market free of charge. ( just pm me)

What you need to know is that all dealers are going to mark up a precentage, just like any sale organization. You just need to find one and negoiate price or offer a dealer/broker a flat fee to find you the best aircraft which meet your budget and needs. Like mentioned earlier, you can look on ASO and controller to get a good Idea of what you are looking for but usually one will still need a dealer or broker. Their is alot envolved with contracts and prebuys. (one should never buy an aircraft without a prebuy, preferably I-IV inspection at a respected matenance facility) Hope this helps.
