sabre 65

thank-you falcon capt. i have a flightsafety sabre 65 manual and it does not mention slats, but i have seen them on 65,s. just curious.

I think all the Sabres had machanical/automatic slats... Basically below a certain airspeed they just deployed. They were held retracted by aerodynamic force.

Did some looking at pictures of the Sabreliners, the 65 doesn't appear to have slats. The 80 on the otherhand appears to have the exact slat system that Falcon Capt describes.

The 65 series has a completely different wing with a supercritical airfoil. No, it does not have slats. It does have more surface area and larger flaps.

With the Garrett 731's the aircraft is efficient and fast. Makes me wonder why anyone buys one of those boat anchor Hawkers, or even a Lear 55/60 series. The 65 is the best deal out there right now!

Slats- Maybe

All 40/60/75/75A models came with areodynamic slats that retract at about 140 kts and deploy at about 180. There is no pilot input.
Raisbeck(sp) developed a supercritical wing in the 70's and sold it to operators as a mod. To my knowledge no 40 models were converted. The 65 wing was produced a the factory but I think the stc was purchased from Raisbeck.

What has been said in earlier posts is correct. The 65 has the critical wing and also has anti-ice. We fly a 65 and it is a very good ac. We can, and have gone non-stop HOU-BFI with 6 pax. The only thing that is not real good is that the cabin is kinda small.
