that was good about Terre Haute. For a second there I was thinking if Terre Haute would work for an airline. Then I remembered everybody there either works at the paper mill making that place stink like ___, or is hoping for the next highly public execution to help put that crap hole on the map. That place can't even make a commuter profitable. The school there was OK I guess. Thanks for the laugh.

Sorry Steeler Guy, but I'm not going up to Pittsburgh to teach you. It's too cold up there.

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. Have you even BEEN to Pittsburgh? It was in the low 70s just 2 days ago. The only reason it's a little colder today is because my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready to take the field today against the Jets. Can't wait for the Jets to get a steady diet of Duce and the Bus, with an occasional Hinz Ward, Plaxico Burress mixed in. Then there's our rookie QB, Ben ROETHLISBERGER--try spelling THAT one, Mr. English Teacher guy.

I guess football is a priority for me. I guess nitpicking everybody on the planet is a priority for you.

Can't we all just get along???:D

Steeler Fan...You're my hero!

BTW, as far as the 24 month thing goes, don't forget that there were no classes for eight months after ours. That gives the guys behind us eight less months to wait.

I looked on the list in front of us too. I think I saw a 6-month gap in there too. I think we're about 150 down from the junior Capt. How long do you think it'll be?

btw you're my hero! Please tell me you'll be routing for the Steelers, or are you a Colts fan now that you're back in Indy?

Bid Pro's fixed too (so that's good news).

Gotta go watch the game...man I hope we dominate!!
(and I do mean "we"--it's a Pittsburgh thing an aht)
GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the math. 1000 Pilots + 250 (05) + 250 (06) = 1500/2 gives you 750 to 800 on the list to upgrade. Upgrades will slide back as more Pilots are hired. SO if you are hired today it will take nearly 3 years or a little less to upgrade best case. I thiks it becse of basics' of numbers. That was for you Dave, let me know when I can enroll in class.

Started class in Dec. Just doing the math here. Including my class, AirTran had approx 1000 pilots. If we hire approx 260 per year, in four years, that will bring us to approximately 2040 total pilots by year-end 2008. Let's assume a very modest rate of attrition in the list above us over those four years due to retirements, medical, and miscellaneous other reasons totaling 30 seniority spots (we'll also assume that they hire to make up for these losses). That would put someone getting hired today at approximately 970 on the seniority list out of 2040 at the end of '08 (46%).

If we upgrade FO's to captain at around the 60% seniority mark, that would put upgrade time at around 2.5 years assuming growth remains as projected (a big assumption in this industry). After the first year, new hires brought on today would be at around the 77% point after the first year, 64% after the 2nd year, and 54% after the third year.

Speaking of new-hires, the quality is very impressive to me. We have some very experienced military and civilian people coming on board. Several retired military with vast amounts of experience, other military folks with significant evaluator time, and others with quite a bit of combat time. On the civilian side, we've got some check airmen, others with fairly long careers at smaller airlines, and a couple of furloughed majors (they had to give up their seniority numbers).

It's worth it!

Yikes! I almost had to eat crow. I can't believe that dude from the Jets missed twice.

Dude, that was a good game. I was hoping the Jets would win so the Colts could play the AFC Championship game at home next week. That's IF the can get by New England tomorrow.

Congrats to the Steeler Fan(s) and I hope the Colts will be playing at the Big Ketchup Bottle next week, or maybe I should call it HINZ Field!!

Sorry about your Colts...

Both the AFC and NFC championships should be exciting. Rematch of the 2001 AFC Championship Game. (I think I feel more comfortable having Big Ben leading us as opposed to Cordell). I'll be wearing my #7 Jersey all week, my kids have #86 and #22 and #86 respectively. Go Steelers...

Sorry everyone for hijacking this thread...I just want to see something good about AirTran on page 1 of the Forum (as opposed to the Vegas Thing).

Speaking of the NFC championship, it's VERY cool that #7 from the Falcons advertises for us. Unbelieveable player.
