Staying within Canada, WestJet plans to add "Clapper technology" on board its aircraft...

That would still be less irritating than the people playing the trivia game on my seatback when I fly on Delta. Tap... tap tap... tap... tap... "Yeah! In your face!" ... tap... tap ... tap...

Delta to pare down Atlanta hub, shift focus to 'reliever city' Chattanooga

Delta will begin to pare down its Atlanta hub and relocate its main operations base to Chattanooga. The Tennessee city has long been mentioned as a possible reliever airport for Atlanta's busy Hartsfield-Jackson International. Now that appears to be close to becoming a reality. Delta CEO Richard Anderson says the world's busiest airport in Atlanta "has just become too big and too congested" for the world's largest carrier to keep running its busiest hub there.
At least that's according to the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, one of several aviation news sites to run April Fools stories today.
Elsewhere in the world of aviation today – April 1 – Ryanair announced it will add yet another fee to its already extensive list of a-la-carte services. Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary says the carrier would begin charging one British pound (about $1.50) for each three minutes breathable air. The airline did not announce a start date.
Meanwhile, the Wisconsin publication OnMilwaukee.com got the scoop on Air Canada's plan to offer in-flight pot brownies -- a measure meant to help calm the nerves of passengers with a fear of flying. OnMilwaukee.com says "it's a tough battle to wage, but Air Canada … has a plan to rebuild its empire in the high skies [fueled by a] new plan to take its customers even higher. Literally." OnMilwaukee.com says Midwest Airlines' famed chocolate-chip cookies provided Air Canada with the inspiration for its idea.
Staying within Canada, WestJet plans to add "Clapper technology" on board its aircraft. The airline says on its website that "guests wearing the transmitting device while seated can clap once to activate the reading light in the console above their head, clap twice to change the channel on their live seatback television, or clap three times to illuminate the flight attendant call button. Transmitters are available to purchase online for $19.95, and the devices come in a variety of colours."
Back to the USA, there's another unusual airline partnership to talk about. In news that comes after a week that gave us the unexpected WestJet-Delta and American-JetBlue pairings, Virgin America has announced plans to merge with Los Angeles-based American Apparel. Gadling.com breaks the news, saying that as part of the tie-up, the San Francisco-based carrier will require passengers on the trendy carrier to wear American Apparel leotards on all flights. Gadling says the merger will make the new Virgin Apparel company the "world's largest hipster conglomerate."
Happy April Fools Day!

Alright, someone who gets it!
