I have some questions related to Ryan International (I have seen the website).

I know that Ryan operated a large fleet of freight 727s in the past - especially USPS contracts. Now, with the interesting AirTran wet-lease agreement, Ryan illustrates its fleet versatility...

Are there any Ryan International pilots out there who could talk about their operation. How many A320s do they operate? Do they still have a large 727 freight operation? In which aircraft would newhires begin - and would you need a type rating for a specific aircraft? Where are the pilot domiciles?

How do you like flying for Ryan - positives and negatives?

By the way, I have seen its website - looking for pilot opinions...

Thanks

Not inside info, but we see Ryan operated casino charters to ACY with ex-SWA B732s every few months.

Ryan also does some Airbus charters to vacation spots for tour operators during the winter.

Heavy Set,

As an x-Ryan pilot.... I can tell you that it is definately a different company all in all. They have A-320's (Apple Vacations and Fun Jets and now Airtran), they have 2 757's (Apple Vacations and Skyservice) lots of 727's (Freight and now 6 or 8 corporate shuttles out of LAX and an east coast base ?) no USPS... that all went to FedEx and now its all out of Dayton for Emery. Also 737's (200,400-800's) I believe they are a veriaty of contracts there. Atlantic city, Apple, Funjets and some more crap. Your base changes yearly. They put you up at base and pay you perdiem out of base. You jump to work.... recips with pretty much everyone. 757's OAK, MKE... A-320 DEN, ORD, Flint, MSP. Denver is going away though. Airtran bit is LAX, and LAS, but don't quote me on that. 737's..... ahh you got me on that one... CLE I think is one and the rest are scattered. Forget about getting a job there right now.... furloughs to come soon cause the overseas contracts are done real soon as in yesterday and the furloughee's get the first picks as they should and then they'll hire off the street. Friends and family and well you know the rest....... Im pretty sure this Airtran thing is only 12-18 months though until they get their stuff together. Anyways.... its late and thats off the top of my head so........ Im pretty sure I missed some crap, but maybe a current Ryan pilot will chime in. Good luck and I hope that helped.
