This should stir things up a bit. I guess now we know why the smell of union-busters is lately on the wind in the Fractional industry.

Teamsters Applaud Federal Rule Change Making It Fairer for Airline, Railway Employees to Form Unions

PR Newswire WASHINGTON, May 10
Hoffa Says Rule Brings Union Elections Up to Modern Standards
WASHINGTON, May 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa today applauded the National Mediation Board for changing a federal rule that now makes it fairer for airline and railway employees to form unions.

The rule change was published online today in the Federal Register and affects more than 570,000 airline and railway employees. The rule change allows workers to form a union if a majority of the employees who vote support it.
"Workers who want to form unions are looking for job security and peace of mind. By changing the rule, the NMB has leveled the playing field, giving workers a fairer chance to form unions," Hoffa said. "I'm pleased with this decision by the NMB and I'm proud of the work the Teamsters Union has done to ensure this change happened."
Hoffa added that the rule change brings union elections up to modern standards of democratic election law. It allows workers the right to sit out an election if they choose. Under the old rule, workers sitting out an election were viewed as casting 'no' votes.
The NMB is a federal agency created in 1934 under the Railway Labor Act to oversee labor relations in the railroad and airline industries.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Just one more step toward the "fundamental transformation of America"

Need proof. Ask this guy.

Yea Andy Stern is a real radical. Hey listen, since you guys have ceded control of your party to these wing-nuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UASS1qFAIQ8 you better get used to spending time out in the political wilderness. I hear it gets real cold out there in the wintertime, especially in New Hampshire.

In the mean time get some help. Really. http://www.4degreez.com/misc/personality_disorder_test.mv

Does this rule change pertain to fractionals? All the press reads it will just affect employees of "public" transportation outfits. Is a frac considered public or does part 135 flying open that door? Obviously I don't know the answer so if someone has info as to how this specfically affects fracs I'd appreciate the education

Yes it applies to fracs, because we engage in interstate commerce, our union's fall under the RLA, which is administered by the National Mediation Board. http://www.nmb.gov/

The act was essentially designed to prevent disruptions to the national transportation system - at its inception railroads, now airlines and the fracs.

The act is also why airline strikes are rare.

Let me see if I understand. You agree Stern is a radical. Then tow the White House/MSNBC line used to attack people speaking freely.
I'm also still waiting for the day one of "you guys" clear up the Fundamental Transformation comment from our president.

It was an intentional non sequitur meant to be ironic (which was apparently lost on you). Everyone knows Stern is one of the most progressive labor leaders in a generation. That's where the obvious irony comes in.

As for attacking "people speaking freely", I make no apologizes for attacking racism and bigotry.

Your right I'm unable to understand large words and irony that does nothing to defend a progressive union thug and our president who meets with him more often than any other person.

Given the chance Obama could be this nations greatest President. Unless, God forbid, there are enough racists in this country to reach critical mass and tear it apart instead.

If you disagree then you're stupid and hate NetJets.

I'm sorry! What is this topic all about and why is it relevant?

We're in a bad economy and we're playing with our Johnsons like they mean something?
