I fly a 1980ish turbo arrow.

The engine is a continental 200HP with an STC for an inter-cooler that boosts power to 220HP.

The engine runs great up to about 9,000ft. As altitude increases above 9K there is a sporadic roughness similar to how the engine feels with fouled plugs. This bump or rough feeling will occur every few minutes.

As altitude increases up to about 18K the engine runs rough constantly.

The mags are pressurized. At 11K I tried switching to each mag and the engine ran VERY rough on either one.

Below 8K to 9K there is no problem at all. The engine runs great.

Fuel burns / cylinder temps stay normal at high altitudes. The only symptom is engine roughness.

How do I trouble shoot this?
