Yes voice I am sorry. Did you ever consider maybe pilots use this website as a tool to decide whether or not this is a fight worth continuing? Perhaps we should focus our attentions on pilots verses management and convince all those moorons to stop doing OT. If you look at our crew ratio 4.1 per airplane (including management pilots) you would see they are getting desperately low. Every day of OT worked is another day without a CONTRACT. Why can't these guys figure that out? I am tired of wading through the bs on this site trying to figure out who is winning the war, us or them. As for me I am a regular old line pilot who rolls on ready moving at the speed of negotiations, flying the pledge with a finger on the ejection button. If your crystal ball is working,,,, well then grasshopper please enlighten us. peace

Overtime

Yeah its sad and true that there are guys still working overtime. They all have their excuses why they do it. I guess they don't understand that they are delaying the contract for a few extra bucks today. They are really taking money from their own pocket. Kind of ironic, don't ya think?

Another one bites the dust

Found this on the Floptions pilots board and it is so telling.

Hey guys and gals,

I called it quits today. It has not been fun (or safe) for a long time, but that had nothing to do with my coworkers. Flight Options formed the basis of my career and I will always be grateful for the experience gained and wisdom gleaned from so many quality aviators here.

The leadership of the 1108 has their collective heads on straight if you ask me, and their guidance is the only thing that can save this ship, but for how long can upper management be this stupid? That will determine the futures of those who stay. To the PSM's, PM's and any other management reading this board (and we know you do), you have literally sold your souls to the devil and I don't know how you live with yourselves.

The mission first, bargain basement mentality that is evidenced every day by the idiots making the decisions here is killing the business day after day, and sooner or later, one would think it is going to kill some innocent human beings.

I empathize with those of you that have your own reasons to stay, and I would never presume to tell anyone what to do. For me, this job has progressively sucked more and more of the joy out of my life and the impetus to leave just got stronger with each passing tour.

One of the best ones I flew with here used to tell me when they are this consistently poor at the business, they are either incompetent or fraudulent, it HAS to be one, you pick.

Good luck with the fight!

SS,
The person who wrote that goodbye is a great pilot and fantastic person. FLOPS has lost yet another treasure from it ever shrinking chest of great employees.

I actually know one of the guys doing overtime and keep on telling him to quit. I know he has financial troubles right now. I just keep telling him to not complain about lack of a contract if he continues to do OT. The Union is working hard to support You. Are You working hard to support your union.

I like the other poster said move at the speed of negotiations.

Good posts, guys! De-motivation is the logical result to the current situation. I'm not one bit surprised that Options pilots want to...move at the speed of negotiations. The FLOPS have brought it upon themselves. In my frustration during the NJA contract battle I told the pilots....just earn the paycheck and we all know that shouldn't take much effort. Different pilotgroup but same circumstances. At what the Options pilots are paid that means doing the bare minimum and certainly no favors like OT, no going the extra mile, etc. If the FLOPS want a top-notch attitude they should stop paying bargain basement wages. Basic common sense: you don't get a gourmet meal from a fast food restaurant.

Absolutely, any favors/help given to management is taking money away from the pilots and their families. Money they could have sooner to get out of debt and begin living the stress-free lifestyle that other professionals take for granted. Penny-wise pound-foolish thinking is wrong; whether it comes from an inept CEO like MS...or pilots willing to prop him up and enable him to drag out the labor strife that hurts everyone in the long run.

I called it quits in Oct 07 and I completely identify with Silver Surfer's referenced post. I miss the comradery amongst the pilot group and taking that to fight management. On the flip side, the every day battle with Kool Aid drinking FAR ignorant PSM's and schedulers just wore on me so when the right opportunity presented itself, I jumped ship. It's amazing how much FLOPS distorted my reality perception of aviation. There have been FLOPS pilots that have gotten out of aviation all together because of FLOPS. I was fortunate enough to be presented the opportunity at the right time to see that aviation is not necessarily about inept management and going to work pissed off.

Okay, I will enlighten you...
If you need this board to gain info more than mildly entertaining, you're in the wrong place.
Perhaps you should send an email to the board owner and request that there be only one thread that suits your broken record taste.

No, it is not ironic.
Twisted and f*****d, but not ironic.

So you guys would be happy with an essentially modified NJ CBA?

You re not looking for someone to reinvent the wheel.

We are not going to get everything that NJ pilots got in our first contract. I hope we are very close in pay, benefits, and work rules but some of the extra benies you guys get we may not. just the facts of life at Floptions.
