I am a TSA furloughee. While I ponder my next move, I am curious about other airlines reserve schedule. Here at TSA we have 10 days off and a 90 min call out. Usually the schedule ends up five days on and then two or three days off. I am a commuter and life with this schedule BLOWS, but I don't have to worry about it much longer. What are other airlines like?

At XJT, we either get 11 or 12 days off per month depending on how many days there are, and we have a 2 hour call out. There is also a percentage of the lines that are long call reserve, which is 12 hour call out. We can also classify ourselves as "will fly" or "no preference" which helps determines who will get called first. We also have airport standby duty for reserves, which can be an alright deal. It lasts 5 hours, and if you aren't assigned anything within that period, you are released for the remainder of your original reserve period. I've personally found the company to be pretty fair with the reserves, and it is not as bad as some other places have (known from experience!).

I guess I should have mentioned something about the airport reserve. At TSA, hot reserve is ten hours and we get five hours of pay, but with the amount of flying reserves get (not much) we rarely break guarutee anyway. Man, with a twelve hour call out, I could sit reserve at home! How sweet would that be?

I'm fortunately on the 10 hour sit for TSA right now. Please, Skywest, if you see this message, call me back..................
