Things usually slow down around the holidays, and the shortage of simulator time in the 170 has definately gotten things to a near standstill. We've actually been offering leaves of absence to 145 drivers since we're "overstaffed" on the aircraft (which I find comical, since they delayed my flight by a few hours yesterday because I called in sick and they had nobody to fly the plane), but we're still way, way behind on the 170, so I imagine once they can get the wheels turning on another 170 sim or get caught up with the current training, then they'll start hiring again.
Another possible factor is the training of any of the Mid-Atlantic pilots who have accepted employment at RAH. There have been various discussions about how many will actually come (the most we can expect hovers around 150), but that's anybody's guess. We also have numerous Shuttle America pilots from the integration who haven't been trained yet (though they're slowly getting there), so it may be a little while for people off the street.
There's all kinds of people who want to beat up on us and all sorts of rumors about us codesharing with Northwest or Continental, or flying 190s, or whatever. I wouldn't put any faith in any of it until you see it in an official press release, and then I'd still probably doubt it.
