Let me preface this post by saying I am just a line pilot and do not know much about anything.

Every week the argument comes up on this board about pay scales and it NEVER gets resolved. Remember where most of us came from? Remember the days of eating machine cuisine and Ramen Noodles every day because that was all you could afford as a flight instructor? Being a “regional” FO is still much better then flight instructing. Until they get paid better, there is always going to be a ton of pilots willing to make $22.00/hr for the first year. Especially since the QOL is much better.

There are more issues then our pay scales. If United or any other carrier wants to add lift to their express operation they are going to give the contract to whoever has the lowest bid. Therefore our companies try to keep their costs low so that they can generate new business. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by keeping the payroll low.

On another note, are we really going to argue that the airlines were harder hit during the recession then they were post 9/11?

I think it is great to see Freedom come to Orlando. It was awsome to see how happy the CHQ guys were when they heard the news. You should have heard them, scope this, contract that etc,etc ..... What a laugh.

I guess the reality of someone doing your job for less pay isn't quite as much fun when you are the one getting undercut!

Enjoy it kids.

Maybe now they can stay the hell out of our "ops". I know its nice, but you have your own.

Way to be the little man and take this thread back in a bad direction after the last two posts were constructive. A$$hat

If you are a CMR pilot, you should see the irony in your own post!

You, cmrflyer, are by definition management's tool. An unwitting tool, perhaps, but no less useful for it. Although, in all fairness if indeed the CHQ guys were whining as you said they share space in the toolbox with you.

First off, agreed that any CHQ brothers b!tching about MESA coming to Orlando is stupid. As always, any of us are only gonna fly where mgmt puts the airplane. I KNOW nobody was dumb enough to be bitching about scope. Our air-tight scope only stops our own holding company from fukcing us. Has nothing to do with who does DCI, ABC, etc...

Why don't you ask your rampers who they'd rather see hang out in "your" ops. They actually like us 'cuz we'll hang out, talk to them, share a smoke, and treat 'em like real people, instead of having our noses in the air because we happen to drive a WSCoD or a Tundra jet. BTW that place is a dump. We only hang out there when our turn time isn't long enough to hike down to gate 93. Peace.

Good until the 2nd paragraph, then more of the same.

nyuh-uhhh!

Get the BFH. Right there in the toolbox.

If it is such a bump, i suggest you stay out, and keep you bags out of there too. To tell you the truth i have been friends with our rampies in orlando for almost six years, i know them by name. The only time you see a nose in the air its because something around here stinks.

Hey cmrflyer,
If the ramp and gate people like you so much why were they so sad to see ACJet leave LGA, BOS and JFK. Why did the A gates in CVG go senior for the rampers if you guys are so great. They all hated you guys and said that us at ACjet were much better to hang out with.

The whole payscale argument is a joke...A HUGE JOKE!!

For Comair people that think they are on a high horse(I tuly believe this is a minority of that pilot group)......Whats your basis?? Other people doing the same job for less? When are we going to see a Delta mainline scale for you guys?? Don't tell me for a second there weren't mainline a/c on half the routes you fly less than a few years ago...there are WAYYY too many planes parked in the desert for you to answer otherwise.

This goes for almost every regional jet operation. Is it the way things are now in the industry? yes. But for God's sake shutup about who gets what and who you're not allowing to jumpseat and who's racing to the bottom etc...

You just go to work and fly where they tell you to fly right? It's not your fault your company can do the job for less than a prevous mainline a/c and crew is it?? Well take that mentality and apply it to the hypocrictical arguments on here day after day after day.

Go to work. Enjoy yourself. Worry about yourself. Stop b!tcing.

T-Hawk

P.S. Lets start a new forum called "Payscales" and move all of this bickering into it, so the regional forum can perhaps go two reply's without this 5 year old whining.
Bring back the "taking a dump on an airplane thread" That was back when everyone here acted like dorky pilots, instead of dorky b!tches. Much better if you ask me.

i'll second that....

I never noticed that they did not filter 'ass' I'm so used to it being filtered on a bunch of car forums I'm on. Asshat

EDIT:wow look at that

asshat assity ass ass ass

thank you

the A ramp is senior because it is such a f** UP. Or maybe its because ACA use to be their, grow up dick. When was the last time anybody from CHQ was invited to a rampies birthday, I was based in CVG and still being invited to MCO rampies Christmas parties. Grow up. Two years in an exComair base and you think you own it. Delta owns Comair and wants nothing to do with it (two seperate companies (thats right genarel)) you park your planes there for two years, and now its your base (run by Comair ground personnel). You call the rampies the "little people", I have heard that from three leed rampies,NICE.

I actually have a bunch of friends working for CHQ based in MCO that i use to go to flight school with (Daytona).I still cannot excuse thier ingnorance to fact that our ops (as crap as it is) is ours, we don't drop our overnight bags in yours, so respect our and stay out. Or is it beyond your ability to have respect.

PS where is your OPS. thats right Delta expresses old ops, I guess room must be tight in there. now you want comair ops too. I guess next time i want a dump and dont have time to drive home........ just like you and not having enought time to walk to your ops.

Quite the pissing contest is it not? I spent the 4th of July with my 2 y/o nephew. He is more of an adult than some of these. GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!!! IT'S MY OPS!!!! MOMMY!!!!

Its inevitable that each and every thread including any delta connection carrier immediately explodes into a five page gaggle of some of the stupidest sh1t you have ever read. It was old three or so years ago, it was sad back in 04, now it is just annoying as hell. I can't wait until everyone reallizes that we are ALL totally fuked in this industry and it is exactly this "us and them", whiny, softy, nonsense that is accellerating our demise. The sad thing is that I work with some of you dumbasses (hey, look at that, you CAN say ass) and you b1tch about this nonsense at work too! Life is too short, next time you see another pilot in YOUR ops why don't you say hello and ask him/her how their day is going. You might brighten their day or even start some POSITIVE ENERGY. I am starting to feel warm and fuzzy already.

Seriously, we have the greatest job in the world. Yes the pay sucks, yes it sucks to commute but we are in this together. I think we all need to chill and try to support each other as we go into negotiations. Each pilot group will do what is best for their group. Stop Sh!tting on each other. We keep fighting over this sh!t and we will solve nothing. I may talk about ass all day, but the majority of us need to grow up in here. If I get denied a jumpseat because of a pissing match like this, hope they carry me off the aircraft before I throw my feces at you monkey style

Like the fact that Skywest was already in talks with DCI for Comair's 70's and that Comair's pay freeze is still way ahead of CHQ in every category?

I'd say DGdaPilot hit the nail on the head.

Yes you are correct. Comair beats CHQ hands down in EVERY category of their contract including junior manning (CHQ doesn't even have such a beautiful thing). And your upgrade times? WOW 5-6 years now? Awesome! Fact: My private pilot flight instructor is sitting right seat at your "Precious" Airline while I am making more money with less longevity sitting left seat. Not to gloat, just fact. So keep on beating us! Please!!!

And there you have it folks...

I thought pilots were professionals when I started this gig. Now I think we are a bunch of pansies. Hopefully most of our opinions are vented here and not seen on the line (i.e. MCO). Why don't we treat every airline pilot with respect, what a concept!!! yes, even gulfstream and mesa.

Comair and ASA upgrade times are around 3 years opposed to 1year (or when they get enough flight time) at Chautauqua. At least a 2nd year + Comair FO makes a decent living, probably close to what a reserve captain makes at Chautauqua with pay credits, DS's, full DH pay, more per diem, etc....

twobits said:
um, no.... i thought that was what it is... maybee 3.16 years but around 3

I think upgrade time is about 5 to 6 years.
One of my friends at ASA has been in th right seat since 01.

I'll try to answer this with a little less venom than my first reply.

The comment about the A ramp in CVG was made by an ex-ACA pilot, not a CHQ guy. Interesting that they got the same response.

I'm not even based in MCO, so I don't know who goes to Christmas parties or not. The only reason I've ever been in "your" ops is that I asked a ramper if there was somewhere nearby to leave my bag during a quick turn, while I grabbed a sandwhich. He offered the use of "your" ops. He also said we're welcome to stop in whenever. If I have time during a turn, I'd rather go to my own crewroom since it has company computers and more comfy chairs. But I'd wager that as long as the rampers are telling out-based crews to drop in, we're gonna see CHQ guys in there. Sorry you think that's disrespectful.

I saw a ton of flight bags stored there, most of which had Comair tags. Frankly if we have guys leaving their flight cases there, I'd agree it's rude. Space is tight there too.

Sorry about the "dump" comment. Not necessary.

I highly doubt any of our MCO bubbas are calling the rampers "little people", although statistically we're bound to have some SOBs around somewhere.

This is officially the end of this thread.

Any more replies posted after mine will be SEVERLY punished by reading the CBA's for every single regional airline in North America followed by you preparing a detailed summary including graphs and Excel spreadsheets.

But wait, isn't Chautauqua stealing Comair's flying?

;)

This type of stuff is why myself and several others that have been around here for awhile have stopped posting as much as we used too. I'm not referring to the CMR/CHQ comparison.

Mahogoff - thats wonderful that you are doing so well in your career. You've had some LUCK. Yes thats LUCK and its all there is too it. Someday the shoe may be on the other foot (read yours) and we'll just see how you handle it. What comes around in this industry goes around. You'll get yours. Maybe you should talk to some of your senior guys (the few that have been ther 10 plus years (btw 10+ isn't even junior at my airline) and thay can tell you how your outfit was almost out of bizz in the mid/late 90's.
