Chautauqua to Provide, Operate 44 Regional Jets As Continental Regional Carrier
HOUSTON (AP) -- Chautauqua Airlines will provide and fly 44 jets as a regional carrier for Continental Airlines Inc., beginning next year, Continental said Friday.
Financial terms of the capacity purchase agreement were not disclosed.
Chautauqua, a unit of Republic Airways Holdings Inc., will fly the 50-seat regional jets under the Continental Express brand. The planes will replace service that had been provided by ExpressJet Airlines Inc.
Continental in April announced the switch in regional carriers.
Continental shares fell $1.22, or 4.2 percent, to $27.98 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange, where they've ranged between $9.03 and $32.04 over the past 52 weeks.
Republic's shares shed 8 cents to $16.45 on the Nasdaq.
It was a down day for airlines overall, with the Amex Airline Index falling 2.2 percent off rising oil prices.
