Republic to Replace 16 Delta Planes, Add 10 to United's Fleet
NEW YORK (AP) -- Regional air carrier Republic Airways Holdings Inc. amended services agreements with Delta Air Lines Inc. and UAL Corp. regarding aircraft for each carrier.Republic will replace 16 of Delta's 70-seat Embraer 170 aircraft with 76-seat Embraer 175s during the second half of 2008 and first quarter of 2009. The planes are part of the Delta Connection fleet. It will also add 10 70-seat Embraer 170s to UAL's United Express-branded fleet.
Republic operates regional flights for several major airlines, including Delta, UAL, AMR Corp., Continental Airlines Inc., US Airways Group Inc. and Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc.
Republic shares fell 18 cents to $18.82 in morning trading.

scope has to be reversed first.

What he said.

I want mainline to take back 70+ seats as much as the next pilot who doesn't intend to make a career flying small jets, but what are they willing to give up in order to buy back that scope?

You know the price is going to be high...

I was being sarcastic. Scope is a one way check valve. It can be opened allowing more outsourcing, or it can be closed, not allowing additional outsourcing but doing nothing about what's already allowed. No pilot group will pay one thin dime to take scope back, ever, regardless of economic times. If times are good, its time for a raise, even if you have to sell scope to get it. If times are tough, its time to sell scope to defray other cuts. The last holdout (CAL, with no jet over 50 seats allowed to be outsourced) is making its last stand as we speak. You have no idea how much I hope I'm wrong on all this.

That is awfully close to the 737-700's that Delta only has 10 of on order.

Delta's established pay rates for this sized aircraft are less than Comair's and probably very competitive with RAH's. Do not know if the Delta pilots can buy this back, after all they have already matched the pay and DGS services Shuttle America's aircraft in most DAL cities.

OK, so after all is set and done, Shuttle will have ten more planes and six leftover 170s...Republic is trading up 170s for 175s and putting some with Frontier...I think CAL is shaping up the place where they might end up, logically...who knows, though?

God I hope not...

I believe that at most longevity levels the RAH scales are better than both Comair and Delta.

Tell your born again CEO that the CAL pilot group politely tells him to stick his big Barbie jets where the sun don't shine...:)

Let's hope the CAL pilot group tells their own CEO where to stick any scope relief proposals. It doesn't matter what either CEO does if the CAL group holds the line. I hope you are right though.

I agree.

If you guys give mgt the proverbial inch, they'll take the proverbial mile. I agree that these airplanes do not belong at the minor leagues, but as much as I agree with you (as a RAH barbiejet pilot) I will not quit my job in protest if you allow 70-90 seaters to be outsourced in CO colors.

It is up to you guys.

I think you guys are ignoring the main point here.... shares fell 18 cents!!!!!

Barbie Jet is reserved for the CRJ 200 thank you very much. You will now use the term "jungle bus" to refer to the 170+ group.

Call a 170 a "regional jet" on the radio and just wait for the crew's response...not that I've ever done that...

Next time I'm told to follow one, I'll refer to it as an RJ then. Should be almost as fun as calling CHQ, Shaniqua on the radio.

You get a better response when you call a mainline "company." I have done that, but he started it.
