What's up with your operation?

Flew on one of your E-170's to DFW from PHL 2 weeks ago.

We sat at the gate for around 45 min. waiting for lav service, all the while some ramper was parked in his tug snoozing in plain sight of all the passengers!! (I assume a USAirways employee, not Republic).

Than in flight, the cabin attendants didn't serve until half way into the three hour trip. It took them about 20 min. to serve a "full" flight and then they went back to B.S.ing with a dead heading crew!!!

I hate to say it but I get better service on United.

Jumpseating out of Lauderdale yesterday and saw a brand new 175 with the Embraer paint job on it.... sure looks nice.

Well PHL is US ramp. If it was a rAH ramper everything else would have been done. As far as service beiing halfway done in the flight, there is nothing is in writing that says it has to be done in the first 20 minutes of the flight.

Suck on that

Republic's 175 pay rate (86 seats) is better than USairs 190 pay rates (99 seats). Less seats more money but UsAir is major. This is were the problem starts majors pay regional rates.

Yeah, after about 15 years the CA payrate is better. How do those FO payrates matchup?

Most guys going to the left seat of the 190 from Usair have over 16 years service.

Not going to argue the FO's pay does suck.

How many guys in the left seat of Republic have or will have 15 years of service? Not many is my guess.

And thats why you're a second class operation. Ignoring the passengers to socialize and pointing the finger at others. Take some responsibility for you airline. Your the captain and in charge. Put your foot in someones keester to get things done.
This use to be a service industry and not serve yourself.

GOOD JOB,
KEEP LOWERING THE BAR!!!!

I have to admit, the FAs that we hire suck ass, sometimes we don't know what you are getting back there. That is one thing i swih would change, but the culture the company instills in the new FAs is terrible.

Republic FA's have a Professional Standards Committee. (No oxymoron comments please, I mean it: they really do:) ) Perhaps if you had taken it up with the captain he could have pointed you in the right direction.

There are better ways to address issues such as you described than writing it on the bathroom wall or using it as a "Nyuh-UUUUH!" type of comeback.

I understand.

That's the problem with companies that grow too fast.
Management focuses on numbers and not quality.
Also I'm sure they're making chump change for wages so the company hires workers who's from retail (mall rats). They don't quite have the understanding of work ethics yet. We had a few of these folks back at ACA/flyi. You (the captain) have to take these folks by the hand and explain to them the importance of taking pride in they're work and that this is a customer based industry. It's crucial for everyone at your company to get it right

I already knew the answer, I'm just sick of guys thinking our payrates are better. They always forget our FO's make 22-35/hr on 37-90 seat aircraft and that we have very few guys making those better rates as CA's. It's easy for us to have good rates for CA's when there are 11 guys making those rates.
