Now that I'm logging time working for a company doing daily flights, what should I put in the remarks section of my log book for every trip? Does it matter if you put anything? I was just curious to know what other corporate guys and airline guys put in their books after every flight.

Thanks,

very green corp. pilot

Started my career writing all the usual diary type stuff.......that got old quick.....then moved to flight numbers and crew...........eventually it reached the point that the only time I wrote in the remarks was when an emergency happened...........now I pretty much reserve the remarks section for UFO, or naked co-ed sightings!

The only thing you really =need= to write in the Remarks section is the stuff that counts for FAA purposes that doesn't already appear in a column. One example that immediately comes to mind is instrument currency (assuming you're not getting gperiodic IPCs or equivalent recurrent checks).

61.51(g) requires that

==================================================
For the purposes of logging instrument time to meet the recent instrument experience requirements of § 61.57(c) of this part, the following information must be recorded in the person's logbook -
(I) The location and type of each instrument approach accomplished
==================================================

not to mention the

==================================================
(ii) Holding procedures; and
(iii) Intercepting and tracking courses through the use of navigation systems.
==================================================

that 61.57(c) also requires be "logged".

What approach I flew and where I held (if applicable) and anything out of the ordinary (see above post about naked coeds, ufo's, and emergencies). Also, when I go to an airport that has never appeared in my logbook, I will write the location and state in the remarks section. (i.e. "anywhere city, some state")

Be careful what you put in there...

I was at an interview and there was a guy going over every "remark" in my logbook. When I asked if that was normal he said "Not until the other day". He said a pilot who interviewed before me had a number of "Got lost again, couldn't find airport" entries!:eek:

Well that guy's an idiot! That's like listing all of the FAR's you broke on each flight.
