For those that defend him, I can understand your point. For those that make fun of him I laugh right along with you. He seems like a nice guy but when he writes "I make plenty of money flying airliners. However, general aviation is where my heart lies and I derive immense satisfaction from seeing a new pilot succeed." I can't help but laugh my a$$ off. Guys likes this are so gay for airplanes its embarassing for the rest of us, especially when we are trying to earn more $ doing it. Plenty of money as a TSA f/o, I can't remember making plenty of money over there.

New rule, anyone who refers to transport cat a/c as "airliners" is a douch3.

Never let anyone see you look up at the sound of an airplane. Never let anyone know you have wanted to be a pilot since you were old enough to remember. Deny the pictures you drew of airplanes and the models and paper airplanes you built when you were a kid. Suppress the memories of your dad taking you to the airport after church on Sunday to watch the planes take off and land. Never let anyone know how much you like flying.

You are not supposed to like it. You are supposed to wear your meanest face all the time and gripe and moan about about all facets of the industry. You are required to ridicule and scorn anyone who shows the slightest enthusiasm.

You are supposed to hate it all. Never, ever let on or let anyone see that it is otherwise lest you be branded a dork on FI.

We all love flying or else we wouldn't put ourselves through all this bs day in and day out but it is time to grow up and act like men instead of little boys. We all looked up at a/c flying across the sky when we were young but if the pilots of those planes saw how we are today they would label us all as pu$$ies, and they are right. How can you defend a guy that says 21 bucks an hour is plenty of money?

How can you defend someone who accepts the job?

Hoss, I think you are off the mark with this one.

No one wants to only make $21 an hour...however, you gotta start somewhere. The vast majority of us want to make the money that the top guys make at FedEx, et al. If you don't start at $21 per hour, though, you won't get to whatever the top paying scale is when it is your turn.

It's really shallow for folks to give newbies to the business contempt for paying their dues. If noob #1 doesn't take $21 per hour ($19 when I started), noob #2 will.

If first year pay really is that important to all the folks who look down upon the guys that take it, why don't the guys who don't make first year pay negotiate for more for those that do?

They get the raise for themselves, at the expense of the noobs.

Druglord you are a toolbag. Nothing wrong with this guy being excited about aviation. Those of you that are making fun of him, you are the real losers.

Man, what a bunch of jerks we are.

We aren't even taking pleasure in someone's downfall...instead...we are taking pleasure in making fun of his apparent success in his life while we sit around and piss and moan about how crappy ours is.

Then we justify it with some high-horse ideal of "standing up for the profession". You can stand up for the profession, support union efforts to improve it, fly safely, be frustrated about the negative things that come along with it...ALL while still enjoying the job and being THANKFUL for what you have.

What a freaking concept.

I'm happy for the guy.

Humbled too.

Glad to see there's still so many decent people on FI.

Druglord, you can go sit in the corner now with the cap on.

I think it is more pathetic that someone has nothing better to do than to make fun of a young guy's website.

Whats runny regionalcap is what you think does not matter, just like what he does in his time off does not matter.

You remind me of my gossiping mother. Cheers.

Guys likes this are so gay for airplanes.

As opposed to guys like you who are frigid for them? ;)

Naw seriously, I think that is the funniest term I've heard for it... "gay for airplanes." That's great! I think I have a new mantra.

As for this guy with the passionaviator website, I say more power to him. All those old crusty guys out there grumble and complain that the younger people don't have any concept of "paying dues," yet demean them for accepting a first year pay rate of $22/hr. Well, which freakin' one is it? A willingness to pay dues or an over-active sense of entitlement? Make up your bleepin' minds!! (Personally, I choose the "dues paying" mindset, but that's just me.)

In any case, this person has found someone that they can spend their life with and can handle him being a pilot for a living, so that's doing way better than me. The pic of the auto-Brasilia on his website is cool too. Lay off.

From what I can tell, this guy actually did what so many d0uchebags on this forum demand is the only "correct" way to become a pilot: he got his ratings the old fashioned way instead of at a pilot mill, he got all of his instructor ratings, he spent hundreds of hours instructing, and then he got his first regional job when he had much higher time than the average newhire regional pilot. In short, he paid his damned dues, as so many people around here like to say. And yet he's attacked? Yeah, he's a little overly enthusiastic, and I don't get the whole "publish my life on the internet" thing, but that's no reason to attack the guy.

Alright, I take it all back. I just clicked on his link that says "want to know more about who I am" and it takes you to a damned Scientology brainwashing website. There's nothing I despise more than Scientology. Keep your freaky little cult to yourself.
