Raytheon Company Appoints S. Michael Scheeringa Chief Executive Officer, Flight Options
Thursday January 26, 5:19 pm ET

WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 26, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN - News) announced today the appointment of S. Michael Scheeringa to the position of chief executive officer at Flight Options, the company's fractional ownership entity. From February 2004, Scheeringa served as Flight Options' chief operating officer and has served as acting chief executive officer since November 2004.

"Michael is a proven leader," said William H. Swanson, chairman and CEO of Raytheon Company, "as is evident in the progress Flight Options has made on its Go Forward business plan. We believe he has the background, drive and innovative ideas to lead Fight Options forward in a highly competitive industry."
Prior to joining Flight Options, Scheeringa served as US Airways' vice president, Express Division. At US Airways, he had previously held a series of officer-level positions managing the areas of customer service, operations and corporate planning, in addition to overseeing the MetroJet and the US Airways Shuttle divisions. He has more than 17 years of experience in the aviation industry. Scheeringa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in transportation and logistics management from Arizona State University.

This is the same guy that said " A pilot could go to Mesa from here in his aviation career", during a company meeting with him in DAL

Sorry to hear that for the FLOPS guys. The situation is getting worse - time to get some representation so that you can bargain properly...

I wish we can call that number TODAY for a vote. I can't wait. You should of done the right thing, looks like your spending millions anyway, when you could of just given it to your employees.

There is an undeniable ugliness to Raytheon’s latest actions.

Raytheon is announcing very publicly that they do not value pilots enough to meet them at the table and iron out a written contract.

Then Raytheon’s CEO makes a very public flight to Cuyahoga. Shortly afterward the Raytheon CEO bestows on Scheeringa exactly the kind of contract that Raytheon refuses to the pilots.

Strong union needs to make full disclosure of Scheeringa’s new contract a priority.

Yeah, just what you need is some crack(head) USAirways management puke running Flops - I mean, look how well they did with USAir................

Let's be realistic

It's not as though they had a long list of qualified applicants wanting to take over the job of Captain of the Titanic! This place is a shambles, and Raytheon had to take what they could get (failed crappy regional airline reject).
We (the pilots) have a fix in the works, though, and we can deal with this bozo just as well as any other clown that Raytheon may have put in the upstairs office.

respectable observation-Frac Rat

However, this represents a change from the status quo. Why does Raytheon offer the guy a New Contract now? Why not let him continue on as "acting Ceo" under his old contract?

I want full disclosure of the terms of Scheeringa's new contract.

There is simply no legitimate reason for anything other than complete transparency when management is asking pilots to vote "no" in the upcoming ASAP election on the basis that pilots should place their trust in management's continually morphing "go forward plan."

Vote: ASAP
