Why doesn't our regional leaders from Alpa, create a union inside of the union, designed to create a base, or a floor for pay which is livable, to prevent companies like MESAba from trying to force their pilots into rates so low that an FO has to have food stamps and live with their family (do you know that they asked for pay rates for capt's at 55 an hour for 50-110 seat aircraft and 2 an hour for FO's?)

The race to the bottom needs to end

Why don't all the regionals break from ALPA entirely and form their own association?

Several regional MEC's have done just that. As a matter of fact, several regional MEC leaders met in Herndon, VA on October 27th to discuss these very issues. Along with various MEC leaders and NC Chairmen were staffers from Representation and E&FA. The Director of Representation and Assistant Director of Representation co-led the conference along with 2 MEC Chairmen. Mesaba was represented at that conference by Tom Wychor as well as Brad Shirmers. This Friday is a conference call that is a follow-up to that bargaining conference.
