I think that fits well with a favorite observation. It states that when one undertakes to study a flower, it is just a flower, but as one develops in the study, it becomes much more than just a flower. As one masters it, it is just a flower again.

I think it means:
As one begins training for a career in the airlines, he dreams of all the many jobs that await him.
But as one gains years of experience in aviation, he realizes how screwed he is if he finds himself unemployed in todays market.
