Is there a "SWA Store" online where you can order SWA shirts, models, pics etc?

What does SWA pay during training (reg pay, per diem, etc)?

What are the current pay rates and guarantees?

The website for the Freedom Shop is:
http://southwest.corpmerchandise.com/

The following table is for Capts & FOs. Multiply the "trip rates" by 1.1393 to get an hourly rate for comparison purposes. Pay during training is $3000 a month. You will not hit the line flying trips until at least 4.5 months after being on the property. The portion of the month after completeing training you will fly the line. The first full month after completing training you will also fly the line. The guarantee is about 90 trips a month which equates to about 80 hrs a month. Each base averages a "guarantee minimum" of approximately 90 trips but there is no "bank". Whatever you earn each month, you keep. The advertised minimum for the first year is $36K but one can easily make $50K if you wish to work more. I emphasize the last part...."IF YOU WISH TO WORK MORE!" If you wish to fly your line, expect about $36K, 2nd year is around $60K, 3rd is around $80K. I have beat each of those numbers by $20K each year I've been here but I also live in domicile.

Here are the pay scales:

Per diem is paid at 2.15 per hour while on the road. Duty rigs are about .50 per hr of duty. Duty rigs don't kick in very often.

There are negotiations right now that will add be a cumulative gain of a minimum of 20% to the '04 rate and raises that could range from a minimum of 31% up to 39% through '06. The current proposal would add 2 years to the contract. There are rig changes up to .74 an hour for duty. Only about 15% of the lines will be affected by this change. They are also adding language to allow new hires to contribute to their 401K funds immediately after being hired vs. waiting 1 year. There are other changes to but too complex to post under this thread.

As the debate on the contract begins in earnest I will try to post info on it so new hires & potential new hires can see the process & determine what is going on.

Food for thought....the majority of our pilots who are on the property at this time were NOT EVEN HERE when the last contract was ratified!! It is imperative that YOU take the responsibilty in looking at your next employer's total compensation package. No one is making anyone apply to any airline....the contract will be what it is when you get here at SWA or wherever you apply. Hopefully my info will allow you to come in eyes wide open as to what that contract is. I will start a seperate thread on this if folks are interested. Cheers & God Bless
