I just received my NETJets application today in the mail... I am still undecided about working for the company mainly on one issue only, and that is pay. 28k is almost half of what I make flying freight and having a schedule. Not to mention the upgrade is under 2 years.

The application says 28k to start, but you can expect around 41k. What is the average for you Net Jets FO's? Is it usually higher then 28? This would help me make a more informed decision. I have been reading the threads and have seen all the bitching about pay and how it sucks.... usually only base pay is stated. What extras are there?
thanks

Freight,

Plan on 28K as being what you are going to make until the new contract is ratifies...when will that be?.....I have no idea. The are saying 41K because they are adding in perdiem (1.60/hr = 38.40/day) and they might be calculating some OT, which isn't seen too much lately. WE have F/O's here who are in the 28K/ year scale and it is killing them!!!!! They also felt they were going to be making alot more than 28K but that's what the contract calls for......Hope this helps.....

Thanks D0-82 Driver, I appreciate the information. I was a little skeptical after everything I read on here. Also skeptical after seeing the application state "upgrade time is about 8 months."

Which I know is total horse S#R#.

Let say I keep my application and wait until the new contract passes, and it happens to be better then anyone thought. Will they still look at it then, or are they expecitng it back right away?

Thanks again

No one can say what will happen at this point. A strike may be necessary but it will take at least 6 months from the time the MEC requests a release for self help to actually enter the coolin goff period.... MINIMUM. Prior to that, both sides must reach an impasse and call for a strike vote. Those things have not happened yet.

Guess I will keep hauling boxes, and getting paid decent to do it...
I hope you guys get what you deserve and soon. I wish it didnt have to come down to a strike, but it just might..
Good luck

If it does come down to a strike....( I personally don't think that will happen) but if it does, I think it will be one of the shortest strikes in aviation history.....My guess.....less than a day. I think this happen once before and that was the case. I'd have to ask some of the more senior guys about that.

Freight....they really said upgrade in 8 months.....I think 2 to 3 years is more like it...maybe longer....

Freight,
I posted this on another thread addressing upgrade time at NJA...

"Well, my last post got me pretty wound up so I went back and checked the latest seniority list. It shows 499 FO's at NJA. Appx 50 fo those are FO's on FO pay. The rest are on captain pay.

Soooo, the revised numbers from my last, Incorrect post, are,

449 FO's, @3 per new aircraft equals 149 new aircraft. If deliveries average 3 per month, thats just over 4 years untill upgrade gets to me. There are Appx 45 FO's junior to me.

This should give anyone considering NJA an idea of the upgrade time in the future."

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I think those numbers are pretty realistic. One thing I have thought of since, but, have no way of estimating, is the effect of our over 60 guys.

Most of our over 60 guys are retired airline and I believe most are waiting for the new contract before they bail! They dont want to miss out on the possibility of retro pay or a signing bonus.

Impossible to bet on how many will leave right off or what the rate of resignations will be.

If your pay and bennies are good now, why on earth would you "Bet" your career on this place?

The company is outright LYING to you about the first year FO pay and upgrade time. I know, I'm an FO on FO pay at NJA going on 21 months. You wanna work for that kind of company?

I,m glad to here you guys are standing up and considering a strike. I won,t send my app back till things pan out....the problem is they know they can still get pilots no matter how little they pay is as long as people apply and accept jobs. Lets work together and make what we do worth more then flipping burgers in a fast food rest.

Got the call after about a month of sending in application. Friend/Reference took in my resume and gave rec. letter for application. Mite of helped. Good Luck.

netjets has already had the shortest in history (probably) - about 20-25yrs ago and it lasted all of 20 minutes or so. mechanics struck and the pilots honored the line.

I hope in a year or two you are able to still call the person that wrote you a letter of recommendation a friend. This contract is a long way off and I'm afraid we aren't going to get nearly the offer everyone thinks we are. Cut your expenses so that you can live comfortably on around $30k (before taxes) and plan to do that for at least another year. This thing is a long way from being over. A new MEC will be elected in October and the new gang will try to pick up the pieces and go from there.

Someone posted on our union board that 3 new hires packed up and walked out of Company Indoctrination last week. They decided that they'd seen enough horse**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** already. I've also heard that the company is having a hell of a time getting new hires at all. It looks like the word is really getting out that this is a crappy place to be right now. Save yourself some time and effort, apply anywhere but NutJets.

I don't think the mechanics could help us out now. Company only keeps them around as a decoration for the hangar.

Hate to say it, but if all these rumours are true, Fictional Ownership as practiced by NETJEST may go down as the biggest Ponzi Scheme in history (and that's not intended as a slur against Italo-American businessmen)

Was always suspicious about of how smugly we were told at every pizza party that our side outclassed the other side hands down. You just don't allow that impression unless you have something up your sleeve. What stinks is that no one suspected this for THREE YEARS.

Got to watch those Limousine Liberals ....

Unless a new contract is ratified, you will NOT see 41K as an FO at NJA. IF you are flying a full schedule, you can count on about an additional 6000k-8000k in per diem and such. BUT you probably will NOT fly all the time as a new FO. I would realistically count on 30K MAX, just to be safe.

The application says 28k to start, but you can expect around 41k.

There is no way you will make enough ADDITIONAL money in your first year due to the 3 -6 months (YES I SAID 6 months) it will take for our mis-management to get you through all of the training. Aircraft training is the big block and with the current maintenance issues on all the fleets, it may be longer. One individual in my indoc took a full 6.5 months to finish and another 5. No TIPS, NO PER DIEM (except when you are in CMH doing training). $28k is about right...give or take $18.50. JUST SAY NO !!!

GF,

I think the exact answer from the MEC that I saw was something like -

So, the way I read that is the junior guys can plan on continuing to receive food stamps in order to feed their families for the duration of this contract. That is if this TA passes and the new MEC doesn't get a crack at doing a better job.

But keep applying guys...NutJets..where you can fly millionaires for peanuts.
I just started reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and the first lesson learned is;

"the poor and middle class work for money, while the rich have their money work for them"

I feel for all you guys over there, no one should be working for peanuts.

Looks like time to strike...

Seriously, when CAN you guys officially strike (maybe just estimates) because the numbers and rampant disrespect I am hearing ain't gonna fly.... I say STRIKE SOON and show Warren who's boss!

It's official. FO pay will stay THE SAME or nearly so. COME ON ALL OF YOU DREAMERS...GET THOSE RESUME's INTO NETSUCKs so you too can live like a pauper flying the richest people on the planet around. $28k...whoops, I mean $29.5k will be a GREAT opportunity for all of the new-hires !!!

Snakepelt,

How do you know what FO pay will be? Are you sitting in on the negotiations? You must be on the MEC.

Current FO pay 27,000 first year. Fact.
What our new contract will be. Who knows? We have not even seen the new proposal to vote on. Fact.

Infoman.

On Your Six - Can't strike until mediator releases both parties to self-help. As long as both parties negotiate in good faith, mediation continues. Mediator has control and by releasing us, he is admitting defeat. Liklihood is slim anytime soon. If released after a couple of T/A get turned down, pilots will strike in a heartbeat.

Starting pay for a first year co-pilot in Europe is E 40.500! (1 euro = 1.23 dollar)
Why can't you guys get the same deal? you deserve it.. good luck!

----
facts about NJE

1 - 18 on, 12 off
2- new hire pay: 40.500 euro a year minimum
3- first aircraft type:Citation b or xl,Hawker or F2000 ;it depends on the needs
4- 3 to 4 legs a day on average
5- Most frequent destinations in the UK, France,

Appx 50 of those are FO's on FO pay.

WOW What an honor! And what does my family get for this! Well let's see--

3yr old Anna--misses her daddy 17days a month, and wonders why she can't go to nursery school like her friend. (too expensive)

Morgan-8yrs 3rd grade---poor kid/reduced price lunch, missed out on Cub Scouts because it costs too much money and Dad can't participate enough. Wears hand-me-down clothes to school. Blames Mom because she says everything he wants is "too expensive".

Nic--18--works summers to help pay for college, hopes that savings will stretch and knows that Mom has to keep driving her 14yr old car, so he doesn't get it.

Mom-is tired of being a single parent half the month for a budget that can't justify the sacrifices she makes, lives a life of denial, and tells her kids No all the time when they ask for treats.

Dad--works his butt off for $28 K a year, feels betrayed, embarassed, and disgusted. Is getting very bitter having to watch the rich px tip everyone else on the flight line but the pilots that got him safely there.

N ever enough time at home
E verything is too expensive
T oo embarassed by FO pay
J ust one lie after another
E xploited by the company
T oo many very long days
S tarting to update resume
