Boy oh boy.......18 or 20 days away from home. That would be to die for!!
I wish I had that kind of schedule. I'm currently flying overseas heavy iron for an international ACMI operator and am gone for up to 3 MONTHS at a time. Have not been home for the last 2 Xmases (partly by choice) and the only thing constant in my current schedule is lots of changes and lots of traveling either operating or deadheading or commercialing to some assignment.
What's the best way to get an interview at World or would I be wasting my time, not knowing anyone there? I'm pretty sure I could handle any World schedule based on what I've been doing the last three years!
I would be really interested and think I could be a good fit to this lifestyle. It would be a considerable improvement on having to work for a foreign operator/crew leasing company and be moving bases very frequently.
Any advice would be most appreciated. Don't have an MD11 type, only Boeings including current 747 classic and lots of international cargo and pax experience.

How long is training and the quality of the instructors? How many sims do you get before the checkride?

Long. About same as everyone else. Good. About same as everyone else. Lots. About same as everyone else.

Just Kidding!

MD11 training is 2 weeks indoc, 3 weeks integrated systems/FBS, Oral, 3FBS, 9 Sim, Check, LRN, LOFT, OBS, IOE. 3 months straight thru, little time off, lots of self study. Great instructors will make sure you make it through IF you want to. Don't expect Santa to show up though. It's a very intensive training program

...the hiring people will be at the 11 November Air Inc job fair in ATL looking for about 10-12.
This is true.

..what times are competitive at World?
I'm not sure this was answered. 3000 total/1000 Jet PIC are the mins. To be competitive, I'm not sure, the more PIC time the better I guess.
