Hey guys,

Last spring I had my resume walked in to the Reg. CP by a friend. I promptly received an application and turned it around within the week. My friend walked the app. back in to the CP. This was last May. I have yet to hear a word, and I am just wondering if my time-line still looks OK, or if maybe I need to fax an updated resume, or......??? Any help would be appreciated.

BigBlock-

Your best bet is to have your friend call to IND and talk to the Regional CP about you.

sayagain?

Keep on it, they are still interviewing 24 a week right now. 6 people my day. Myself and a Chicago Express pilot were low time with just over 2900 hrs and the other 4 had 4500, 6000, 7500 and over 11,000 hrs. Everyone had someone walk their app except me (I know no one at ATA). I would send an updated resume to your friend and have him walk it in. Good luck.

Clarification

Just to clarify, ATA interviews 24 a week WHEN they interview. This month they had one interview week. Last month they had none. In September they interviewed one week and I think none in July or August. I interviewed in June and they had only one week of interviews that month. The latest plan is still to hire 124 or so pilots over the next 12 months so keep working it if you're interested. Good luck to all.

I know you guys at ATA recently renegotiated your contract - I think 6 months ago or so. I hate to ask, but I have a few quick questions regarding starting pay:

1. What is the starting pay usually per hour? How many hours guaranteed per month?

2. Does pay vary per fleet type during the first year (e.g., L1011 vs. 737-800)?

3. What would a starting CAPTAIN earn per hour for the new contract?

I am a big fan of ATA - I love the fleet types and the varied flying. Thanks for the info.

Cheers

1. $36 an hour.

2. No

3. $36 an hour.

Thanks to all who replied. I appreciate any info on ATA. Seems like such a great company to work for. Good luck to all of you just starting and finishing flight training. Hope to see you on the line someday!!!

One quick question...Will I need to fill out a new app after a resume update. Just curious if I need to start coming up with some new essay answers. Uhgg.

Thanks again.

I was sent a new app to fill out just a couple of months before I got an interview call, and I used the same answers I put on the original app.

Obviously, I got hired.

What's the pay raise going to be starting Jan. 1 2003?

The contract date is July 1, so the starting pay increases to 37.50 per hour on that date. Remember, you get raises on the anniversary of your hire date and on the contract anniversary date. A person hired on the 737 as an FO on January 1, 2003 would earn the following rates per hour.

January 1, 2003 - $36.00
July 1, 2003 - $37.50
January 1, 2004 - $63.40
July 1, 2004 - $69.28
January 1, 2005 - $77.13
July 1, 2005 - $86.06
January 1, 2006 - $95.01
July 1, 2006 - $99.29 (if no new agrrement is reached by then)

I doubt you'll see any more L1011 new hires as two more aircraft were retired over the weekend :(

I heard there is a class starting Dec. 12. Anyone know if there are going to be any new hires in this class or just upgrades?

I heard from my ATA source that there would be no further interviews in Dec, but they would resume in January. I also heard that if you have an app on file, that ATA HR is screening them all and the favorable ones have to go through three levels of approval. Then if they like what they see, you will get a call for the interview. Everything should gear up the middle of Jan with more interviews and training slots being assigned. Hopefully all this info is correct, as I have an app in the screening pile myself.

Just heard that 16 of the last 24 interviewed in Nov got acceptance letters. That brings the total pool to 28. Haven't heard any class dates or numbers yet but hoping that January will be a big month for classes.

TriStar_drvr, as always thanks for the great info you provide.
Interview went well! Thanks again!

Bench

There hasn't been much in the way of news flowing out of Indy, but apparently there is going to be a class of some kind on the 12th. I have a sneaking suspicion that the December class will be comprised mostly of returning FE's, since I think the FE - new hire ratio for the quarter has been tipped toward new hires. Also, I think the new hire pool has been drained to a large degree.

I had three Vanguard homies interviewing in November and all of them got hired. One of the dudes who interviewed on Tuesday said that four of the six who interviewed then got calls from ATA on Friday that they got the job. I think that since nobody wants to run a week of interviews in December, they were a little more liberal with the yes votes to fill the pool up. I don't know how this view jibes with Bench's gouge - his could be more accurate.

I have no idea what the company's long term hiring plans are. ATA is getting two more 737's in December (329 and 330), which will require staffing, and one more in June of 2003. George has pushed to increase utilization of the current fleet, and that will require more pilots, as well. I could see monthly classes running through March of next year or so, with some more after that if the company can't deal away the June 737 delivery position. Two 757-300's to be delivered in 2003 will require a staffing bid in March or April of 2003, so that will create some vacancies, too.

I don't know if any of the ATA guys with closer ties to the training department will see this, but they could confirm or trash my estimates.

Just to clarify, when you say they got hired do you mean they are in class or in the pool?

Thanks

Relax, Chief, I mean added to the pool. I have to admit that I spent all of one and a half hours in the pool, so I shouldn't give you too much grief!
