Question for CVG Comair folks... (no, not related to the furlough)

Hey, I was just watching Red Eye on the FNC and there was some headline about Belgium getting their first Boeing 727. The headline was totally meant to be a joke, but what interested me was the video clip used to supplement it. It was a video clip clearly from the CVG ramp (C-concourse in the background) of several people in plain clothes tugging a Comair 50-seat CRJ across the ramp with a rope tied to the nose wheel. It looked like one of those strong man competitions where they pull a truck.

Does anybody know what this is all about? Was it like a publicity stunt, fundraiser, or something?

Holy Crap that sounds like fun! I wish we had a similar event over in ATL. Thanks for the explanation.

Wow, glad I'm not the only one watching Red Eye. Thanks for the explanation!

Look for this to become part of Delta's fuel saving strategy. Employees pull airplanes out to the end of the runway before engines are started up.

In these times, it's nothing more than an insincere attempt at gaining free publicity in the name of a questionable charity. It's just another of the many recent slaps in the face to those facing job loss. "Hey, let's pull a jet in front of tv cameras to help those less fortunate while we're busy working to make our own less fortunate."

Close...it's actually "Hey, let's get OUR EMPLOYEES to volunteer on their unpaid time to pull a jet in front of tv cameras to help those less fortunate while we're busy working to make our own less fortunate."

It's like Delta taking credit for the volunteer work people who just happen to be employed by delta do on their own time...habitat for humanity, and that breast cancer research charity come to mind.

These efforts are admirable, but I find it shameful for a company to position themselves for gain in community goodwill because of their employees' goodwill.

I bet I know what answer I'd get (after the laughing ended) if I called crew scheduling and asked to drop a trip so I could do some volunteer work that didn't include printing releases, preflight inspections, Jeppesen revisions, monthly operations manual revisions, monthly flight standards manual revisions, de-icing program revisions, operations specification revisions, security checks, weight and balance calculations, performance calculations, and the plethora of other tasks I volunteer everyday as a public service.

Well said V-1. I guess I'm not the only one that's a little bitter about Complacentair.

You guys need to get over yourselves. We been pulling jets (and prop planes before them) across the ramp to raise money long before you graduated from high school.

Sorry. No conspiracy here.

Move along.

People who can, do. People who can't get management jobs and take the credit. You're right, it's not a conspiracy, it's just the way it is.

The crew had taxied to the wrong runway, they are being pulled to the correct one!

I don't understand your point (unless it was to communicate that you're really old). Who said there was a conspiracy?

The comment was in response to posts numbers 7 and 8.

Now get back into the tool shed...that's where tools are usually kept.

I'm reminded of that saying that goes something like "Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics...even if you win, you're still retarded."

That's the end of my current, and future conversations with you. You are not worthy of my energy.

Oh, we been sorry. I'd rather be from the tool shed than the SPED shed.

I got over myself. Much better now. Thanks.
