Did a search and found the hourly pay for 1st year, but my question for you lucky 1st year or 2nd year FO's is if you work extra what can you make the first year. Just interviewed & trying to figure out how the mortgage payment thing is going to work for me if I get the call. Thanks for any info :)

This topic has been reviewed and discussed several times over the past year or so.... here's my two cents worth:

From the period ending 03/31/04-03/31/05, my pay sheets reflect approximately 53K in gross earnings. That's at an average of approximately 115 trips per month. Others may chime in, however, any trips that are picked up in the open time process or through extra fly, are awarded second year rates; which is currently at 71.11/trip. First year trip pay is at 42.14/trip. For planning purposes I would suggest you multiply 42.14 x 95 x 12, to get a CONSERVATIVE estimate on what your earnings will be. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

This topic has been thoroughly covered earlier this month.

Go to the thread titled "SWA first year pay" originally posted on 6-01-05 by T1bubba. It has a ton of information on it, and should answer all your questions.

Good luck!

With per diem you will make 50-55k the first year, with the ability to easily go to 65-70k with picking up. some "masters" of the system do 80k+ but that starts going to moral issues etc. behind what working the system is.

If you consider living indoors and eating hot meals a moral decision. And if your sitting reserve your first year you can only "work" the system so much.

However, if you live in base and are willing to hustle (20 days a month) you can see 80K +first year..115K second.

"working the system" is 200 TFP for 65 hours of flying.

Whiff,

The "working thesystem/moral issue" referred to involves giving away ones line to pick up all flying out of open time/extra fly. This provision in the contract was to award pilots who fly extra with second year pay. A few "work the system" in an effort to get second year pay for nearly all of their flying. The 42x95x12 should be a conservative number for first year gross. Per diem is 2.15hr TAFB>
