Qantaslink To Increase Regional Capacity Expanded Boeing 717 Fleet
QantasLink today announced that it would expand its Boeing 717-200 fleet from eight to eleven aircraft as part of a renewed operating agreement with National Jet Systems (NJS).

Qantas Group General Manager Regional Airlines, Mr Narendra Kumar, said the move would increase QantasLinks total jet and turboprop fleet to 49 aircraft and allow it to increase frequency and capacity on a number of key regional routes in Western Australia, Northern Territory and North Queensland.

He added, This is an exciting development for QantasLink that will increase our jet aircraft capacity by nearly 40% and reinforce our commitment to investing in and growing the Qantas Groups regional operations.

QantasLink entered into an agreement with NJS in 2005 to operate the airlines B717 services, and we are pleased that this partnership will beextended by five years and include the operation of these three additional aircraft".

Mr Kumar said that as well as allowing QantasLink to increase regional capacity and services, the new aircraft would also provide 122 additional employment opportunities for the airline industry, adding, The three new aircraft will require the services of an additional 39 pilots, 59 cabin crew and 24 engineers.

Mr Kumar said NJS had provided pilots, cabin crew and aircraft maintenance engineers for Qantas regional jet operations for more than 15 years and that QantasLink was also commencing a program with NJS and Rolls-Royce to increase B717 engine thrust from 18,500 lbs to 21,000 lbs per engine, which will improve passenger carrying performance in the hot conditions encountered at some ports across the airlines network.

QantasLink currently operates around 2,000 flights each week, serving 49 destinations across Australia.

Hmmmm.

Do you think the pilots would go with the aircraft? Does M\B apply in Australia? Will their wives like dingo's and Abbo's? Just when you thought you were negotiating from a position of strength, along comes Midwest Express and the next thing you know a 21 year old has your seat.

And you have a d-bag like Sacha wishing it upon you. Nice.

You might want to be looking into that D'bag because your future just became very uncertain. A 717 f/o. Well, well, well. If your lucky you will end up on the bottom of our list with an upgrade in 20 years. If your not, the 717's and your stupid butt will be sent packing. Africa or the Middle East most likely because if you have a shred of intelligence, you might notice our economy disintegrating with a moron in the White house which doesn't bode well for anybody, especially you. Do you feel lucky punk? Well do you?
