Fedex later or netjets now?
currently:
4000TT, 75 pic turbine, 121 regional captain, baby #1 on the way
300 dollars? My last kid cost me almost 2000 dollars. The company pays 80% of the hospital bill which is why it is so high. Does netjets pay 100% of the hospital bill? If so then that is a good deal. Those hospital bills take a couple of months to actually reach you so it seems like it never ends. It is nice to see a company that pays your premiums. They should all be like that and cover it.
You are considering leaving a 121 regional CA job with only 75 PIC??? Which carrier are you with? That's like going bungee jumping with no life insurance...
My two cents: stay where you are, build some PIC time so you are competetive later on for FDX (or wherever) - see if you can get an LCA letter to boost pay or do some ground instruction if it pays well.
That will keep your finances a little more stable, the wife on the same insurance plan through the birth, and keeps you from going through a 6 week+ training period ~ and you don't have to worry about missing the birth or facing a pay cut that first year. Also a point to consider: you will not qualify for FMLA (family leave) under Fed. regulations if you move to another carrier now (I believe you have to be employed there for a year), so if the company gets testy, they could make it difficult for you to be there for your wife when you need/want to be. Bear in mind, the regionals have put themselves into a position where they do not have enough pilots trained and ready to cover the increasing needs projected in the near future due to expansion and attrition. Just my opinion.
Congrats on the baby!
