Getting form PDX to the east coast can be a real pain. PDX-LAS and PHX flights are almost always 90%-overbooked (at least when I'm checking), and the the LAs/PHX-CLT flights tend to be pretty tight, too. The PHL-PDX flight is now doing pretty well (it started begining of this month). I've gone back to PDX every other month or so and have found it easier to jumpseat off line most of the time. You will not be able to commute on reserve with a good commuter clause (you'd spend more time going to and from home than at home), and without one you'd be SOL.
