Though I dont consider myself to be very right-leaning, I admired Ronald Reagan as a President and as a man. He was a decent person and a great leader who rose to the challenges of his time in office. This country is a better place today because of him.

Rest well Mr. President

President Reagan

I was serving in the Navy at the time President Reagan came into office. Having endured the indecisiveness, and weakness of the Carter Administration, President Reagan's arrival in January 1981 was a breath of fresh air.

Our confidence soared!

I know God had blessed this man with the leadership to lead this country from the pessimistic, and defeatist quagmire that marked the post-Vietnam decade.

I hope all will join me in saying a prayer for the comfort of his family and a prayer of Thanksgiving for the Providence of his service to our Nation.

Thank you President Reagan and God Bless You, Sir!

I thought I read somewhere that he refused to go into the oval office without a suit on. Truly a class act IMO.

When the US Navy went to the Southern Med to do "FON OPS" (freedom of navigation) off the coast of Libya, the previous Rules of Engagement (under Carter) forbid U.S. pilots from pursuing Libyan pilots after they committed a "hostile act" if the Libyan turned away and headed for home.

Reagan was asked by his staff about a scenario of Libyans initiating hostilities then running away (like they always did). He was asked how far a U.S. pilot could pursue the Libyan. His answer was: "all the way into the hangar".

Now that's a "Commander in Chief". God rest his soul.

Hey Mcdonut
I know you post was just flamebait-but I just wanted to let you know you left out Moron (pronounced Mo Ron) in your profile-maybe you could put it next to the type aircraft you have flown.

Ronald Reagan was exactly what this country needed after the Carter Admin.

He will always be one of the best presidents this country ever had.

Good riddence!

Nothing but a typical republican slimeball. Yeah, the economy was great in the 80s. Just ask all those blue collar guys. And hey, ATC people loved him.

Oh yeah, there was nothing like fearing nuclear war with Russia all the time. Geez I miss those times.

He should have stayed an actor.
That's decent of you. To compare your character qualities with his: He would have had something good to say about you when you died regardless of how much he disagreed with you, out of decency and kindness. At the very least he would have spelled riddance correctly.

It's because of Reagan that we don't fear the Soviets anymore.

It's because of Reagan that we came out of the funk of the late 70s that Carter had us in.

It's because of Reagan that our military has some pride and was ready for Desert Storm.

By the way, I voted for Carter and finally saw the light later on.

Sorry to bust your bubble dummmnut. By the way you can't even spell riddance.

I had the honor of voting for the Hon. Mr. Reagan when I turned 18, and then served under him in the USMC when he was commander in chief.

A true legend has passed!!

Ray,

Why must we kiss someone's ass just because they died? People are slimeballs during and after life. Some people's actions follow them to the grave.

I will give you one thing though: He was a better president than Bush. (both of them)

I happened to watch the History channel this evening when they were showing the many documentaries on Reagan. What an outstanding man!
The world leaders who have done the most for America:
Franklin
Washington
Jefferson
Lincoln
Truman
Gorbechev (The unsung hero of Russio-American Peace)
Reagan (The sung hero of Russio-American Peace
Reagan was a human being first and a United States President Second. God Bless him and his family!

Donut, You're right. You'll be known as a sh1tbird into eternity. Your legacy of retardation will live on for years. Catfish, I concur with your sentiment but in 1980, I was voting for Mac & Cheese in the 4th grade lunch line, not for a presidential candidate. Good luck with your decision. BMD

What you have posted is truly terrible. Regardless of your beliefs, have just a bit of class, and allow the rest of us to mourn a past leader of the United States of America. Your post is as disrespectful as I have ever seen. Personally, I would love to see you banned for it. I hope there is a Mod out there that feels the same way....

I'd love to see "Perfect Strangers" on reruns, but it just aint gonna happen.

Don't crap your shorts every time someone has a different opinion than you. You're bound to get messy!

Has nothing to do with you having a different opinion than I. You are obviously an uneducated, witless, and all around annoying little person. Invest in both a spell checker and a device that will help you pull your head out of your a$$, you are obviously unable to do it alone. I, for one, am done wasting time on you...

Well... I can't even come close to your class. I am defeated.

A true American hero, a leader of vision for the world and a guy with a sense of humor has left us.

Hi!

Reagan was the best actor ever to be President of the U.S. In movies, his acting was OK. He saved it all for his big role, and should've won an Academy Award for his acting as the President. He was one of the most "presidential" presidents we've ever had.

While I wasn't excited about Reagan's job as President, he looks like a genious compared to George W. If they we're running against each other today, I'd have no problem whatsoever voting for Reagan over GW Bush.

Bring back the old Republican party of fiscal responsibility and smaller government (I realize we'd have to go back well before Reagan, as one of his main problems was his record deficits)!

Like ALL post-Great Depression presidents, regardless of party affiliation, government has grown and grown and grown. I am a Republican for sure, and never had the pleasure for voting for Reagan as I never made it out of grade school while he was in office, but his budgets were never balanced, not close. I suspect he was spending to wipe up Carter's mess. As we all know "the president" is more than one man. R.I.P.

Tailwinds...

I remember those years... After the Carter years (I remember 18% mortgage rates) it was a distinct pleasure to be an American during the Reagan years-- he uplifted the confidence of all Americans and truly brought dignity to the Office of the President of the United States (it was known that he would not enter the Oval office unless he was in a suit and tie) a far cry from what Bill muddied. Putting aside politics or how good a president he was, it was how he lived and loved life and especially America, that made him a true hero. His faith in Nancy, America, and God is truly immeasurable. God bless you President Reagan and the United States of America.

Reagan was a Republican President presiding over a Democrat controlled legislature. The deficits belong to Congress, not the President. Congress has the pursestrings, regardless of what budget the President proposes. Congress goes along with the current charade because it gives them deniability at election time.

Throw em all out.

God blessed the USofA by giving us Ronaldus Magnus

:)

The media has been talking of the deficits all week, but despite what they say, Reagan was not to blame. Reagan submitted 3 balanced budget proposals to congress during his terms as president. Each time the liberal democrat congress rejected his balanced budget and increased spending.

Government tax revenues actually doubled during the Reagan years (99.2% increase in tax revenues). Unfortunately, the liberals increased spending on social programs at far greater a rate than tax revenues increased. That is what inspired Newt and the rest of the conservatives to call for a balanced budget amendment in the early 90s. Of course, the liberals would have none of that.

Don't believe what the liberal media tells you about Reagan and taxes. Look it up yourself.
