FI Predictions for 2008:

1. JoeMerchant will continue his ALPA bashing and blame everyone in the industry for his miserable life and failure as a pilot!

2. Jmoney will be adopted by a traveling circus family and will go town to town performing lewd sex acts with farm animals, but will be quite successful.

3. DAL and NWA pilots (the usual suspects) will continue to point fingers (middle and others) at each other and blame each other for failing to get a fair SLI.

4. General Lee will top 13000 posts!

5. Unbelievably, Tanker Clown will wind up on everyone's ignore list!

Respectfully submitted,

The President's (and Congress's) number one responsibility is to provide for the national defense. Everything else is secondary. Obama is clueless about what it takes to defend this nation other than to spout platitudes that make him look like a fool.

We've invaded and occupied a country that never attacked us. We've spent 100s of billions of dollars and lost thousands of service members lives occupying that country. The occupation of Iraq has drained our military resources and incited thousands of new terrorists. This has weakened our country and made us more vulnerable.

McCain supported that unjust and costly war, Obama did not. Obama had the good sense to see that a war with Iraq was the wrong war against the wrong country, McCain either lacked that good sense, or lacked the morale courage to stand up to the administration and oppose the war with Iraq.

As a veteran and patriot I can not support McCain.

McCain doesn't believe airline unions should have the right to strike. Supporting McCain seems stupid to me.

Airlines could strike tomorrow. They don't have the guts. Actually, conditions simply aren't bad enough to inspire this kind of action.

I remind you that there was a time in America when true union members not only broke federal and state law when they struck, but were beaten, persecuted, thrown in jail, and even killed by police and troops when then went on strike.

Unions get no respect now because they don't deserve it. I'm sorry that unions are so pathetic they need to get permission in triplicate telling them what they can and cannot do; THIS is why they're powerless, not because "party X" is in charge of the federal government.

With US involvment in supporting the Iraq's with material and firepower if needed. Like we were suppose to do in 1973 in Vietnam until the anti-war dems sold South Vietnam down the drain with a direct message to North Vietnam that it was OK to invade the south; the US would nothing.

Nixon signed the peace treaty with North Vietnam and Ford sat on his hands while the North invaded the South. If memory serves me correctly, both Nixon and Ford were Republicans.

Regardless, this is not Vietnam, this is a war against and occupation of a country that never attacked us.

Historical note: True, the US withdrawal was contigent on continuing military and economic aid to South Vietnam.

Care to guess which party pulled the plug besides numerous promises not to?

(I'm sure this could never happen a second time though . . .)

Iraqi soldiers were firing on our aircraft enforcing no fly zones every day. Saddam refused to comply with the peace treaty he signed ending the first gulf war. Therefore we were already at war with Iraq. We just went back and finished the job.

Drained our military resources? We are the wealthiest most powerful nation in the history of the world and we cannot support a few hundred thousand troops deployed to a second rate war.

God help us if we ever have to fight a real war again

Obama was not in the US Senate when the war vote was taken. He was a minor state politician with nothing to lose by not supporting the war. I will bet that if he had been in the Senate, he would have gone along and voted yes with the others.

As a veteran and patriot I can not support McCain.

As a veteran and a patriot, I can not support a far left socialist who will leave this country far weaker than he found it.

Gerald Ford abandoned the South Vietnamese Govt? Go back and get your history from somewhere other than PBS and Hollywood. The Democrat led US congress cut off funds to provide the ammunition and air support to the South Vietnamese govt that we had promised. North Vietnam invaded the South in direct violation of the Paris Peace accord. The rest is history.

Those are some of the exact reasons I don't support the Bush Administration or McCain. They weaken our country and military. Obama was right not to support a war against a country that never attacked us. Our occupation of a sovereign country has weakened our military and our country. It was the wrong war against the wrong enemy.

My prediction in 2008: We'll still be in Iraq, more wonderful patriotic American servicemembers will die there and our country will go further into debt as a result of the war/occupation of Iraq and the irresponsible fiscal policy of George Bush.

Passing the buck are you?

Harry Truman, a Democrat, use to say that "the buck stops here." That level of accountability is apparently missing in the neo cons.

You conveniently forget that Iraqi forces were attacking United States forces almost daily. We were there supporting UN mandates.
The Iraqi forces - under the direction of Saddam-were firing on our forces and publicly stating their desire to shoot down US aircraft. These actions violated the articles of surrender from the war fought to liberate Kuwait. They were also violating UN mandates and under international law the Iraqis were engaged in acts of war against the United States.

GW saw what was going on and decided it was time to put an end to it.

So this war was about the "no fly zone"?

I thought it was about weapons of mass destruction, Ooopps, didn't find any. Time to find another reason to invade and occupy.

BTW, if GW put an end to it, why are we still there? We've been in Iraq longer than we were in WWII.

Standing by for the usual Delta pay cuts jab in 3.....2.....1......

The ragtag fleet led by the lone Battlestar Galactica will arrive at earth.....to find it populated by folks waiting in line to fly on SWA..the only airline flying. They just fly back and forth for next to nothing, because they can. Plastic bags are free.
